Women at Risk for Perinatal Depression or Anxiety.

Psychology Department; Senior Undergraduate Research


Explored the relationship among body dissatisfaction, relationship dissatisfaction,
self-silencing, and depressive symptoms in perinatal women. Recruited women
from Riverside Hospital who exhibited elevated levels of stress according to a depression
measure. Collected data by completing interviews with women. Completed suicide
protocol for high-risk participants.

Research Volunteer; Trained student volunteers on research procedures, such as
interacting with women at the hospital, interview procedures, data organization
and suicide protocol. Conducted phone interviews with women.

Presentations; Presented research to nurses and social workers at an Ohio Health meeting,
the Ohio Psychological Association, and traveled to Chicago to present research at the
Midwestern Psychological Association. Presented research to Active Minds, a student mental health

Developed a stress-reduction workshop. Held sessions on campus for students and faculty.
Implemented the workshop for a first-year Posse group before finals week.
Partnered with the Womens Studies Department and the Counseling Center and implemented the workshop
during a stress-reduction fair.

Psychology Department; Summer Research Scholar


Worked with Dr. Erin Henshaw, a faculty member, who explored the relationship between
postpartum depression, treatment utilization, and perceptions of supportive others towards treatment.
Performed participant recruitment at Riverside Hospital, which included administering
a depression and anxiety measure, providing psycho education feedback regarding
mood-related risk and communicating high risk scores to the clinic nursing staff.
Performed suicide risk assessment for high-risk participants. Collected, analyzed, and
organized data for the CONNECT and Womens Perceptions of Mood Changes research
studies.

the annual Body-Mind Centering Association Conference. Interviewed Body-Mind Psychotherapists
and Somatic Practitioners for undergraduate Dance research.

Cincinnati Childrens Hospital Medical Center; Pediatric Psychology Research Intern


Worked with a pediatric psychologist, Dr Ahna Pai, in the Treatment Adherence center, who
is exploring in children with kidney transplants, the relationship between adherence to clinic visits and
a patients health outcome. Abstracted and organized data for the Clinic Visit Study, administered
measures for a Behavioral Intervention Study, attended weekly meetings, seminars
and grand rounds in the hospital.

Volunteer and Leadership Experience

United States Peace Corps; Youth Development Worker


March 2012- May 2014
Country: Morocco
Facilitated and created youth development programs in a rural village in southern
Morocco. Established art, health, dance, English, life skills, and empowerment clubs.
Trained local teachers in grant writing. Received funding for an English and life skills association.
Created programs to facilitate conversations about womens health at the local Womens Center.
Assisted an American organization, The Colored Pencil Project, in delivering arts education. Distributed health
education to rural villages along the coast of Morocco. Created and facilitated programs
at a regional orphanage. Participate and counsel youth at Moroccan summer and spring camps.
Received a competitive grant to assist women in small-business development.

Gathered students to complete various service projects, attend weekly meetings, and correspond with
other service chairs.
Girl Scout Service Project; created a service project for high school girl-scouts to complete while
visiting Denison University. They decorated and wrote words of inspiration in journals. I delivered
these journals to New Beginnings shelter to be given to the children and adolescents.

Identified a social issue and located a service site. Led students to Waterbury, CT to
volunteer at Girls Inc., national organization that empowers young girls to make positive
differences in their communities. Educated participants about the social issue before the trip.
Painted rooms, interacted with girls, led nightly reflection sessions where we deepened our
knowledge about womens issues and how our service at Girls Inc. was valuable.
Gave a presentation to students and faculty about our experience on the trip.
