Standardized Test Administered

Identifying Information: Austin Booth is a 1st grader at Robinson


Elementary. He is 5 years old and turns 7 in March. He lives at home
with his grandmother and his father. His father works two jobs and is
not around a lot. He walks to school because their house is located in
the neighborhood right by Robinson Elementary.
Reason for Referral: The student teacher is practicing administering
the Kaufman Survey of Early Academic and Language Skills. The
parents gave permission via a parent letter and permission slip with a
signature.
Background Information: Austin Booth is a 1st graders at Robinson
Elementary. He lives with his grandmother and father in the nearby
neighborhood surrounding Robinson Elementary. He loves football,
anything Alabama football. He likes to play video games. He was
diagnosed with ADD and is currently not taking medicine. He is very
social when he is not in an academic setting. But when he is in the
classroom he typically keeps to himself, which helps him, fall under the
radar.
Behavioral Observations: Because Austin was diagnosed with ADD
he is frequently pulled out of class for distracting other students and
acting up. He is currently not on medication so his is very easily
distracted. He gets very competitive and feels that everything is a

race. Many times he is racing down the halls with the other students
and he was recorded pinching another student and trying to start a
fight earlier this year.
Test Administered: The K-SEALS is the Kaufman Survey of Early
Academic And Language Skills. The test was created in 1993 by AlanS.
KaufmanandNadeenL.Kaufman and was written in English. The test is
designed for students who fall into between the three years and six
years eleven months age range. The test is designed to evaluate: Test
schoolreadiness,identifygiftedchildren,evaluateprogrameffectivesandresearch
childrens'earlydevelopment.Whenadministeringthetest,theexaminershouldplanfor
thetesttotakeanywherefrom1525minutes.Theolderstudentsshouldbeabletomove
throughthetestmorequicklythantheyoungerones.
