Evaluating Group Presentations :

1. Content :
Did the group communicate an understandable amount of information about the topic
without overwhelming the audience with excessive detail?
The presenters of the group did not communicate an understandable amount of information
regarding the topic chosen. We included all the points and information that we wanted to
deliver to the audience into our PowerPoint slides. However, the information included was
too lengthy and we included too much detail in our content of the slides. This caused the
presentation to be time-consuming and made the audience felt boring. So, we overwhelmed
audience with excessive details and caused information overload.
Did the group use a variety of supporting materials to develop their main points?
The presenters of the group did not use enough supporting materials to develop our main
points. First, the supporting details that really matched the topic we chose were not much.
This will cause confusion of the audience while listening to the presentation. Next, the topic
that the group was presenting was about a product that we wanted to persuade the
audience. But, we did not draw and design the product in order to show to our audience. In
this case, the presenters cannot persuade the audience as they do not even know how the
product looks like.
Was the supporting material relevant?
No. The supporting details in the slides were not that relevant to the topic. Only some of the
supporting sentences were accurate and relevant. Plus, we did not show to the audience the
design of our product that we wanted to present about.
Did the group members appear conversant with and knowledgeable about the
subjects presented?
No, the group members did not appear conversant with the subjects presented by us. The
presenters were not knowledgeable about our subjects because some of us kept referring to
slides when we present and kept forgetting their points. This may due to we were not wellprepared before we did their presentation. Lack of preparation will result in bad presentation
as presenters do not know well their points to be presented. This may also occurs because
the presenters do not know much about the topic they choose.
Did the group fulfill time expectations?
No. The group did not fulfill the time expectations. The group members presented overtime
in which we took longer time than expectation to finish our whole presentations. One of the

reasons was we kept forgetting our main points and kept referring to the PowerPoint slides
while presenting because we were not familiar with the content we were presenting.

2. Organization :
Did the group have an effective plan for the whole presentation?
No. The group members did not plan effectively before doing the presentation. During the
presentation, presenters faced a lot of problems such as forgetting the content and main
points to present, do not know well the topic chosen as well as too nervous.
Did the presentation have a clear introduction, body and conclusion?
No, the presentation did not have a clear introduction, body and conclusion. This is because
the group members did not know clearly how a presentation should look like. We did not
follow the formal organization of a presentation and so did not include clear and precise
introduction, body and conclusion.
Did the presenters stick to their designated topic?
The presenters did not stick to our designated topic as the presentation did not relate much
to the topic. Our presentation was a bit out of topic. For example, the presentation was
about our product which was waterproof clothing but none of us was wearing the waterproof
clothes during our presentation.
Did each group member develop their part of the presentation in an orderly fashion?
No, the group members did not develop our presentation nicely. The presentation was
delivered in a disorder manner.
Were transitions between sections and presenters effective?
The transitions were not effective. The presenters did not follow the instruction and our
presentation was not coherent. Our presentation did not show our main purpose of this
persuasive presentation.

3. Oral communication :
Did presenters speak from brief notes rather than from complete texts?
No, the presenters read directly from the complete texts. This is because we did not know
how to commit the main points to our own words. Besides, this could also be due to the
reason some of us did not want to waste their time to prepare brief notes.
Did presenters speak audibly and energetically?
No, some of the presenters spoke softly and without energy. Their voices were hardly
audible. This is because they are too shy to speak loudly and they do not have enough

confidence to speak in front of the audience. Due to insufficient confidence, the presenters
also afraid that the audience will laugh at them.
Did presenters avoid physical and vocal distractions while speaking?
Yes, the presenters did prevent some of the physical and vocal distractions such as chairs
and the system sound of the laptop we were using during our presentation. This is to
improve concentration during presentation. But some of us did not change the mode of their
mobile phones to silent mode before presentation and caused the phone to ring during the
presentation.
Did the group appear interested in, and committed to, the audience?
The group did not appear interested in and committed to the audience. This is because the
presentation was boring and we tend to ignore the interest of the audience. Meanwhile, the
group members did not appear to be committed and we were lack of passion to present.
Did the group try to be creative in their approach to the topic (by using visual aids,
demonstrations, simulations, etc)?
No, the group did not try to be creative in our approach to the topic. We presented without
using visual aids such as using various pictures and graphics. Instead, we just read directly
from the notes and did not fully utilize the slides. We also did not use demonstrations or
simulations even though we were doing persuasive presentation. We tend to ignore the
audiences feelings and interest because we did not put in effort to gain audiences attention.
Did the presenters speak in a clear voice that could easily be heard by everyone in
the audience?
No, the presenters did not speak in a clear voice as our voices could not be easily heard by
everyone in the audience. Some of our voices were too soft and some of them used the
wrong pronunciation for the words in the slides. This will lead to misunderstandings of the
audience.
Changes volume, pace and inflection appropriate to maintain audience attention.
We did not change our volume, pace and inflection appropriately to maintain audience
attention. The presenters use monotonous voice to present and paused whenever it was not
appropriate.

4. Non-verbal communication :
Did the presenters develop eye contact with members of the audience?
The presenters did not develop eye contact with the audience. We just focused on our notes
and slides when wewere presenting in front of our audience. This will cause the audience to
feel being ignored and slowly lost interest towards the presentation.
Hand and body movements are purposeful, not distracting.

The presenters used many distracting hand and body movements. Those gestures and
movements were very distracting and not appropriate to show in our presentation. Instead,
we did not use purposeful gestures that would aid in our delivery of our presentation.
Presenters do not read exclusively from note cards or visual aids.
Some of the presenters read directly from our note cards or PowerPoint slides. This showed
that we were not well-prepared for our presentation and we did not put in effort in the
preparation of the presentation.
Presenters face the audience while speaking.
Some of the presenters did not face our audience while presenting. We faced the slides
instead. This will show disrespect towards the audience.
Presenters show appropriate facial expressions while presenting.
The presenters did not show much facial expressions during our presentation. Some of us
did not even show any facial expression at all.

5. Group Coordination :
The presentation was integrated; did not look like a sequence of unique individual
presentations.
No. The presentation was not integrated because the members just did their own parts and
did not cooperate with each other. So, it looks more like individual presentations among
ourselves.
Transitions between speakers were handled effectively; there was no indecision or
dead air.
The transitions were not handled effectively. It was a mess during the presentation. Some of
the members did not know what and how to convey their main points while presenting and
caused indecisions. So, they just simply present their own parts and pass to the next
presenter. The passing of the role of presenter was improper too.
The presenters share ownershipone speaker does not dominate.
Some of the group members dominated the presentation. They thought they are the best
presenters and so they did not give chances to other group members to talk and present.
Presenters do not contradict each other or argue during the presentation.
During the presentation, some of our presenters presented about other members ideas or
they presented the wrong topics. It caused them to feel embarrassed among each other. In
that situation, they would argue with each other in order to get back their own points to gain
respect. It showed an incident had happened among the presenters to the audience.
Presenters do not get into conflict or quarrel with the audience during the
presentation.

There was a quarrel happened during the presentation. It was about an audience argued
that the words in our PowerPoint slides were too small and hardly readable. So, the
presenter scolded the audience directly by using rude words. It would show a bad
impression to the audience.

6. Visual aids :
Visual aids are constructed of sufficient size and are displayed so they can see
clearly by all members of the audience.
We did not use much graphics or visual aids in our presentation slides. The visual aids were
not in sufficient size and the audience could not view the pictures clearly.
When appropriate graphics, animation and color are used effectively to enhance the
intended message.
The presenters did not use appropriate graphics, animation and color in the PowerPoint
slides. So, the presenters did not manage to enhance the intended message throughout our
presentation. This will cause the presentation to be boring and the audience lost interest
towards our presentation.
Visual aids are relevant and are seamless incorporated into the presentation.
As mentioned above, we did not incorporate many visual aids in our slides. The visual aids
were not relevant and seamless incorporated into the presentation slides. The graphics or
pictures used for the background of the slides were all inappropriate and did not match the
topic. The presenters should incorporate relevant visual aids into the presentation so that
the audience can understand the topic better.
Visual aids are good attention-getter.
The visual aids used in our slides were not that relevant to our topic. The pictures used as
the slides background were boring and disgusting. So, the visual aids used by us did not
function well as an attention-getter. The number of visual aids used in the presentation was
also not enough to grab audiences attention. Visual aids such as paper handouts, flip charts
or videos should be used in order to make the presentation better and gain more attention
from the audience.
Additional visual aids are used to explain or illustrate main points.
The visual aids used in our presentation had too much information all wrapped up in one
slide. There were no additional visual aids to explain or illustrate our points. This makes the
audience very hard to understand and have no intention to read the slides. Presenters
should insert additional visual aids in order to let the audience to have better understanding
regarding the main points of the presentation. However, presenters should not use too much
visual aids in a presentation. For example, 50 visual aids to illustrate one point.
