Kindergarten Lesson Plan (2/23-24)


1. Review Texas Program Songs
TEKS: 117.3; K.2A- the student is expected to sing or play classroom instruments
independently or in a group.
Objective: The student will review program songs by singing in a group to music
recently learned.
Materials: Projector, lyrics to songs, recordings

A. Im a Little Cowpoke
i.
Teacher will show words of song on projector
ii.
Teacher will review song to student by singing
iii.
Students will sing song
B. Deep in the Heart of Texas
i.
Teacher will show words of song on projector
ii.
Teacher will review song to student by singing with recording
iii.
Students will sing song with recording

Transition: Teacher will begin singing A Sailor Went to Sea, Sea, Sea.

2. A Sailor Went to Sea, Sea, Sea

TEKS: 117.3; K.2A- The student is expected to sing or play classroom instruments
independently or in a group.
Objective: The student will apply rhythmic patterns to unpitched instruments through
the use of words.
Materials: Unpitched Instruments

A. Learn Song by Rote


I.
Teacher will sing first two bars of song
II.
Students will echo back
III.
Teacher will sing Ms. 3-4
IV.
Students will echo back
V.
Teacher will sing Ms. 5-6
VI.
Students will echo back
VII. Teacher will sing Ms. 8-9
VIII. Students will echo back

B. Review Song and Add Actions


I.
Teacher will sing first two bars and add action
- Salute on each sea
II.
Students will echo back
III.
Teacher will song Ms. 3-4
- Salute on each see
IV.
Teacher will sing Ms. 5-6
- Salute on each see
V.
Students will echo back
VI.
Teacher will sing Ms. 8-9
- Salute on each sea
VII. Students will echo back
C. Perform Entire Song
I.
Teacher will sing all of song while do actions
II.
Students will echo back
- Teacher will assist.
D. Add Instruments to Song
I.
Teacher will present multiple unpitched instruments
- Teacher will explain the name of the instruments and
demonstrate how to play them
II.
Teacher will explain how to incorporate instruments into song
- For every repeated word we say such as sea or see we
will replace with the instruments.
- If you do not have an instrument you will still sing and do
all the actions.
III.
Teacher will demonstrate song with instruments
IV.
Teacher will choose students to play instruments
V.
Students will perform entire song singing and playing
instruments
- Teacher will have students pass instruments to other
students
- Once every student has a chance to play the activity is
over.

Transition: Teacher will have students move back to assigned seats and start the
Quiet Game. Students with instruments will bring them to the front.
3. Closing
A. Teacher will start the Quiet Game.
B. Teacher will call one row at a time to line up

C. Students will line up


D. Teacher will walk students out of classroom
