Storm Prediction Center has issued severe thunderstorm warning for the area
Central, Northern and Western Arkansas. Also, the warning was issued for area
Southeastern and Eastern Oklahoma from Wednesday night and Thursday morning from
9:20pm until 3:00am CDT. The primary threats include scattered large hail events to 1.5
inches in diameter. Isolated damaging wind gusts to 70mph. The severe thunderstorm
watch area is approx. 55 miles either side of a line from 20 miles north northwest of
Ardmore, Oklahoma to 30 miles east northeast of Batesville, Arkansas. Persons in this
area should be on lookout for severe threatening weather and possible warnings. Severe
thunderstorms can produce tornadoes.

1.

1. The SPC Watch is sending warning regarding severe thunderstorms. In the first
image the SPC Watch is showing the map of possibility of severe thunderstorms

including hail and tornado. Hail forms when thunderstorm updrafts are strong enough to
carry water droplets well above the freezing level. This freezing process forms a
hailstone, which can grow as additional water freezes onto it. Eventually, the hailstone
becomes too heavy for the updrafts to support it and it falls to the ground.
Most tornadoes form from thunderstorms. You need warm, moist air from the Gulf of
Mexico and cool, dry air from Canada. When these two air masses meet, they create
instability in the atmosphere.
2.

The every image is showing moving of the severe weather whether that is wind
gust, thunderstorms, hail or tornadoes. In the SPC Watch or on Doppler radar we can
notice the color classification of severity of the weather. Also, the images can be in night
or daily mode. Infrared image is showing the night image while the visible image
showing the day image. The Doppler radar is showing the area and colored thunderstorms
moving in the region.
1.The first image was a Service Prediction Center (Watch). It was predicting the moving
of thunderstorms and giving warning to the people to get prepared for it. It has colored
different level of storm and its severity from green (lowest) to red (highest). The second
image was infrared image (which has taken in the night). The image is showing the
moving of the thunderstorms in black and white color. In comparison with the first image
this one is less clear and recognizable. The third image is visible image (which means
that had been taken during the day) but is in black and white color and looks like the
previous image, not fully clear and recognizable. The last image is Doppler radar, colored
and with info on it. The background on the Doppler is black and has smaller regions on it
so all that is making little difficult to recognize the area of severity.

2. As far the aerial photography I consider this technology helpful and necessity in
todays modern world. Definitively, monitoring the movement and development of severe
weather can be extremely important to send the warning signals to the public, minimize
the structural damage and prevent the lost of lives as well. Some may object that constant
aerial monitoring the image on the ground from the air can interfere with peoples privacy
but the good cause of saving the lives can justify it.
