Kait has been working collaboratively with the Summit County Day Treatment and Self-Contained Special Education Programs while she completed her coursework and internship with Summit School District. The Summit County Day Treatment Program services youth from 8-16 years old who have significant social, emotional, and behavioral disorders, Children placed in this program are at high risk for out-of-home placement or are returning from a psychiatric hospitalization, The middle school self-contained program services youth from 6"-8"" grade with a variety of disabilities, but with similar social-emotional disorders that are keeping them from being successful in the regular education setting, On various occasions, Kait willingly volunteered her valuable time to assist us in our classroom working one-on-one with students while staff were attending meetings or just in need of a helping hand. Kait has a caring, gentle, empathetic, and respectful manner. She is patient, connects well with students, and has an ability to listen without judgment, and offer feedback if needed and requested. Students felt comfortable working with and around Kait. Although | have not had the opportunity to observe Kait directly in other settings, | understand that she has been able to juggle a plethora of District responsibilities during her internship, while also tending to her coursework. She has shown great flexibility, organizational, and technological skills by working with children of various age ranges from four schools within the Summit School District. She has been involved with individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, cognitive and social-emotional testing, as well as attending staffings where she helped to prepare and communicate the often confusing test results, with staff, parents, and students, In addition to her other responsibilities, Kait attended our weekly Day Treatment meetings where she collaborated with our Team: Psychiatrist, Clinical Psychologist, School Psychologist, Counceling therapist, DSS Caseworker, as well as our classroom staff of teachers and paraprofessionals. It is an expectation that all team members contribute to the discussion and come to agreement on treatment plans for the students for the following week. Kait proved to be a good listener, asked thoughtful questions, and added helpful comments. She expressed herself with a quiet confidence and clarity, but always with respect and consideration. Kait is a bright woman with a strong desire to help children, families, and schools for years to come. Given the opportunity, Kait will undoubtedly strengthen her voice and assertiveness as she gains experience and settles into a positon. Summut Middle School P.O.
