Event Spotlight: Valentine's Crafts

Wow! How is it already March? This month really snuck up on me (I think

I say that every month). Its amazing to think back to last year when we
were experiencing snow and ice storms and this year we almost skipped
winter all together. Our family is really looking forward to getting out
doors and enjoying the sun.

The kids (and moms) had a great time creating love bugs (thanks for the
idea, Corina Maher!) and decorating paper hearts. The love bugs were
created with paper towel rolls and pipe cleaners pulled through to create
arms. Beads were strung on the ends of the pipe cleaners for hands.
Antennas and wings were cut out of construction paper and then googly
eyes were added! The paper hearts were decorated with sequins,
buttons, stickers and more! Simple but fun!

Its almost time to start planning the new board for the 2015/2016 year.
So look out for open positions and how you can get involved. Our new
year for MOMS Club begins in July so we will be talking about it a lot over
the next couple months. Until then, enjoy the crisp sunshine and I hope
to see you all this month!

Craft of the Month: Homemade Play Dough

For Valentine's Daywe made homemade playdough kits with KoolAid

to color the dough. It was lots of fun to make the kits and then to make
the dough with the kids. The play dough had great colors and smelled
delicious, which made it a little difficult to keep the 20 month old from
eating the dough!

Here are the directions:

1 Cup Flour
1/4 Cup Salt
1 packet KoolAid
2/3 Cup Boiling Water (you will use between 1/2c and 2/3c)
1 Tbsp Oil

1. Mix the flour, salt and KoolAid together (if making these as gifts, just
put these ingredients in a bag with the KoolAid packet, wrap and
include the rest of thedirections so kids can make it at home later)
2. Boil the water.
3. Add oil to the water and mix.
4. Add water to the dry ingredients until the consistency is dough like.
5. To reuse, store in an air tight bag.

2 1/2 cups old fashioned oats

1 cupchopped unsalted nuts(I used 1/2c hazelnuts & 1/2c almonds)
1/2 cup Flaxseed Meal
1 cupmini chocolate chips
2 TBSP packed brown sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cuphoney
1/2 cup coconut oil
1 large egg

Preheat oven to 325 degrees

Toast oats and nuts on an unlined cookie sheetfor 1012 minutes.
Pour oats and nuts into a large bowl to cool completely.
Linecookie sheet with parchment paper and spray with cooking spray.
Stirflaxsead meal and chocolate chips into the oats and nuts.
In a separate bowl whisk brown sugar, salt, honey, coconut oil and
egg.
Pour over oat mixtureand stir well until it is all coated.
Transfer mixture onto the prepared cookie sheet and flatten to a
compact, even layer.
Bake granola for 20 minutes until very slightly golden brown. If you
want them really crunchy, cook longer, shorter for softer bars.

Big Sister Program

This was a fun,easy project and great gift for classmates. My kids had
lots of fun making and playing with their own play dough. Have fun!

for current members who are willing to participate. The Big Sister will be
paired with a new member and help them connect with other moms,
events and activities within MOMS Club of Eugene, OR. Currently the

Moment On Mom Spotlight: Tina Tague

Next Member Meeting
Our next member meeting will occur on the second Thursday of
Marchat our usual time & location.

Club Highlights from February

Tina and her husband (then boyfriend) moved to Eugene from Richmond,
VA when he got a job with the Forensic Division of the Oregon State
Police. Tina was an analytical chemist and editor of scientific journal
articles before becoming a Mom. She has a two and a half year old boy,
Brooks, and a daughter, Cullen, who is one.

Her favorite things about being a Mom are watching her children learn
new things, seeing how much they love each other and getting to watch
her parents now be grandparents.

Since having children, her hobbies have mostly been put on hold, but
before kids, she loved to read, bike, hike, go wine tasting and play
hockey. If she does get some alone time these days she still loves to curl
up with a good book and a glass of wine. Tina's favorite book is "The
Fountainhead" by Ayn Rand.Her favorite movies are "The Last Boyscout"
or almost anything with Bruce Willis and all the "Indiana Jones" movies,
with the exception of the last one.

Tina's favorite things to do in Eugene are go wine tasting and biking.

Her favorite family activity is walking on the beach together.

Her favorite place to travel to is back home to Minnesota, but her favorite
place that she has vacationed at is Ireland.

Tina joined Mom's Club just over two years ago when Brooks was six
months old. She loves her play group and the friends she has made in
MOMS Club.

About our Helping Hands Program?

Part of the support we have in MOMS Club of Eugene is helping each
other during times of upheaval and stress. This is not just limited to
having a baby, things like moving or illness in the family also warranta
need for this program. Our Helping Hands program provides moms with
assistance, usually givingseveral meals in a time of need. However, this
program can provide more than just meals. We can arrange assistance
with childcare, running errands, even a phone tree! We want all of our
members tobenefit from this program in a time of need and we are more
than willing to customize an assistanceschedule that works well for each
situation. Please let us know if a circumstance should arise in your
life and you feel this program would help you! Our Helping Hands

Danielle Alapont gave birth to AnaMaria on February 18th, just after 4pm.
She is 7 lbs 8 oz and 20 inches long. Welcome to the world AnaMaria and
