I want them to know what words can be used in a sentence for


adjectives.

I will look at the group worksheets. One these worksheets I will


look to see that the listed words are adjectives. Also, after we
regroup I will ask for examples of adjectives. The students will all
tell me if that example is an adjective or not by giving me a
thumbs up or down.
-work sheet for group work
-smart board for writing on
-candy for activity: skittles, Sweetart Gummies, starburst, sour
patch kids, and Twizzlers
20min total:
-6 to 8 min. WALT, sentence examples
-2 min. group activity
-5 to 7 min. sharing examples from activity
-5 min. review and closure.
1) Introduction: The First thing I will tell them is the topic of
out WALT (What Are we Learning Today). The topic is
adjectives. Then I will have them tell me the definition, and
I will write it up on the board.
2) Demonstration: Then I will have three sentence examples
on the smart board and I will underline the adjectives after
they point them out in the sentence. Then I will briefly tell
them what they will do in their groups. I will pass out the
candy to each group along with the worksheet that goes
with it. Each group gets one work sheet. Their names will
already be printed on the worksheet with their groups item
of candy on it.
3) Participation: The kids will write down what they see feel,
taste, touch, and smell on the worksheet in their groups.
They will write down as many as they can in two minutes.
4) Practice: Then we will regroup. Each group/student will
give me an example from what they came up with in their
group. The class will give me thumbs up if the example is
and adjective or thumbs down if it is not. If it is an adjective
I will write it up on the smart board. If not I will give a short
reason to why that word doesnt work.
5) Review and closure: I will go back to what the definition of
an adjective is and they will tell me the definition. I will ask

We will review the definition of an adjective. They will give me a
definition. I will ask them how they might use these words at their
stations in CLP.

-In their group if they finish writing down examples, I will give
them another object to come up with adjectives for.
-If certain students are having a hard time filling out the
worksheet, I will let them continue the worksheet for a few more
minutes during their work time in CLP.
