This Waynesville home was built circa 1901, an example of Queen Anne architecture. The home is on the site of the Wayne Novelty Iron Works Company which was destroyed by fire in 1900. According to the Ohio Historic Inventory, it was built by Cornell for a townhouse during an era of exodus of retired farmers from the country to the village. During World War I and into the 1920s it was the home of Dr. Witham, M.D.
