Abstract
This study was to look at my morning routine and getting up at a decent time to
get ready. It will look at my particular behaviors in the morning and how that affected my
morning. There will be different methods that will be used to try and change my
behavior. This study looked at the number of times that I snoozed, the time I got up, and
the time the alarm was set. Through this study you will see the positives that arouse.

Introduction
This study was meant to help me get up earlier in the morning. I would like to get
up at 5:15 but often snooze my alarms till 5:45. This will help me have a relaxed morning
because I will not be rushing to get ready and will have time to do all of my morning
routines. This will also help me with getting ready for my workday.
The reason that I chose this particular behavior for this study is because I will be
moving out on my own. I need to be able to get up at 5:15 to take my dog out to use the
restroom. I currently have a yard for my dog so in the morning I can just let her out. I am
moving out to an apartment and will have to be up early enough to take her out. It will
also help with my morning routine because I am often rushing to get ready so I can leave
at the time I set for myself. All in all I would like to get up early enough to not be
rushing. I also would like to be able to do get ready for my workday so that I am not so
stressed during my day. I believe setting a goal of 5:30 will help me get up early to take
care of all my morning duties.

Will setting my alarm 15 minutes earlier get myself up from bed 15 minutes
earlier?

but I was exhausted when I first got

up. After taking my dog out I woke
up and was ready for my day.
I went to bed late and had a really
hard time getting up.
Went to bed early and woke up
awake.
I was able to wake up feeling good
and ready to start my day.
Another good morning.
Feeling better and starting my day
off positive.
I am getting a lot done at work in
the morning and not staying so late
so I can have my down time after
work.
I really like my down time now and
I get to relax at home
Good day
Stayed up late writing IEP goals
and struggled getting up
Overly exhausted from learning all
that I have to do for IEP and
testing.
Went to bed early and was able to
wake up refreshed and really
enjoyed my day.
The time I gain in the afternoon
from waking up early has really
made me less stressed about work.
Today I woke up and did not feel
like I needed any extra time to lie
in bed. I got straight up and started
my day. The day seemed to be
more productive getting up early.

Conclusion
I learned a lot about my self in this study. I was able to start my day earlier so that
I would have time in the afternoon to relax. What I learned about myself is when I got up

earlier and started my day I was able to feel prepared. Feeling prepared has allowed me to
not feel overwhelmed during my workday. I have a very chaotic classroom with
behaviors and when I got to work earlier I was able to get the prepared for what might
come. I felt more ready for the day and that I would make it through the day instead of
having a dragged out day. Every time that I got up late I would feel so bad about it and
want to do better the next day.
The correlation that I found with this study is that if I stayed up late for any
reason I was struggling to get up the next morning. I am now realizing that even though I
may be young my current job is very emotionally draining. I need that sleep to recuperate
for the next day. This study had led me to want to do even more with getting up earlier.
The only thing that I would change about the study that I completed was to log the
times I went to sleep with how many snoozes or how late I got up. This would allow me
to really analyze and correlate sleeping patterns with wake up times. I think I would have
been able to have a better understanding of why I did not want to get up or why I was so
tired. I want to be able to be more productive with the time that I am awake and not sleep
away the days. I tend to sleep a lot and so having logged that information I believe that I
would be conscience of the amount of sleep I was getting.

General Comments
My next step would be get up by 5 am and go walking or some exercise. I think
doing it in the morning will help with being in a better mood and feel better about myself.
I tend to function better in the morning than I do after the school day is over. I think the
mornings are going to be key for me when doing things for work because I seem more

alert during the morning hours. Even though it is still a struggle to get up in the morning I
am still striving to do better. I am feeling more positive about my days and having time
for myself. When I first started this job I was working 12-hour days and not taking any
time for myself. Doing this research plan I realized that I needed to take that time to wind
down so I could get better sleep and feel like getting up in the morning. I cannot wait to
try getting up earlier.
