I believe that one of the most important aspects of being a school

psychologist is our ability to act as a form of liaison between students,

their families, teachers, administrators, and community leaders. Our
unique position within the school environment provides us with a
wealth of knowledge about the complex interactions that must take
place between each group in order for our students to experience
success, both behaviorally and academically. An effective school
psychologist possesses the skills necessary to bridge any gaps in
knowledge that may exist between the various groups (e.g. parents
who are unclear about the importance of their role in continuing to
teach the skills that are being taught in school at home or a principal
that doesnt understand why a student is suddenly receiving office
referrals because they are unaware of the recent dramatic changes to
the students life at home) so that all those involved have a clear
understanding of where the others are coming from and what part they
play in the childs education.
