In the Spring of 2014 the Waterloo Community School District was awarded a
3.4 million dollar Teacher Leadership and Compensation Grant. I am currently
responsible for managing the grant along with all of the elements including;
budget, sixty-five full release instructional coaches, Mentoring & Induction for
first and second year teachers and professional development. In addition to
coordinating and providing professional development for teacher leaders, I am
also responsible for the coordination, planning and delivery of professional
development for both building and district level administrators.

In the spring of 2010 Lincoln was designated as a Persistently Low Achieving
(PLA) school as a result of lack of achievement of the ITBS. I was chosen to
lead Lincoln and provide solid instructional leadership in an effort to raise student
achievement. My duties included; the evaluation of teachers (all
teachers are evaluated each year of our SIG grant), providing relevant, effective
professional development directly connected to the district Strategic Plan as well
as Lincoln Comprehensive School Improvement Plan, managing the 2.2 million
dollar SIG with assistance from our Central Office, actively participating in data
teams, providing quality feedback on lesson plans and after walk-throughs.
Lincoln earned the Dr. Arlis Swartzendruber Award for Academic Excellence
based on the increase in test scores two years in a row. In three years the scores on
the state Iowa Assessments in Reading increased 21.95 percentage point as well
as 33.14 percentage points in math.

West High School is a large urban high school with approximately 1,700 students
from a variety of backgrounds. As the administrator assigned to primarily 9th
grade my responsibilities included: monitoring the implementation of the
Instructional Decision Making model, regular classroom walk-throughs and
observations, the administration of regulations regarding student behavior and
discipline and the facilitation of monthly data team meetings for the World
Languages and English departments. I was also responsible for the evaluation of
teachers using the Iowa Teaching Standards and served as the building
coordinator/contact for pre-service student teachers and field experience students
from the local universities.

Served as Principal of Lowell Elementary School which was comprised of
approximately 315 students in grades Pre-K through five. Provided leadership for

Competency. Monitored instruction through regular walk-throughs and
classroom observations. Maintained an accurate balanced budget. Participated in
professional organizations, seminars, workshops and professional meetings in
order to continue to acquire professional knowledge and build upon skills.
