Cunupia Field Day 14/11/14

Dear Journal,
This lesson made me feel empowered to continue the work of planning more student
centered lessons. As one of the teacher who taught today I got a good sense of the true meaning
of a one-on-one student centered lesson and the effectiveness of higher order thinking skills
(HOTS). It allows students to make a valuable contribution to their learning.
In retrospect of the lesson preparation, I realize that I need to improve my planning of
activities and how much activities I try to incorporate into a single lesson period. It is imperative
that I make greater effort to improve on my clarity and explanation of the teacher activities of the
lesson, my wording and my structure.
The set inductions today were very powerful and able to bring across the desired
message and carried throughout each of the lesson by the teachers. Overall it was empowering
and impactful. This field day made me realize that as teachers it is very important that we take
pride in what we do and how we do what we do. We are the ones responsible for guiding our
charges into learning and loving what they learn. We are the lighthouse that guides the ship (our
charges) safely to shore.
