Scrapbooking Tour of the Northeast:

Documenting Our Adventures in History, Civics, Geography, and Economics

Dear Class,
For the following two weeks, we will be exploring the history, civics, geography, and
economics of the Northeast. During this time, you will be documenting our adventures through
the creation of a scrapbook.
Each day, we will explore a different topic relating to history, civics, geography, or
economics in relation to the Northeast. Your job will be to create one scrapbook page every
night reflecting on the lesson and exploring the topic discussed that day. Your scrapbook must
contain at least three main details of each lesson, at least three pictures on each page (may be
from magazines or the internet), and may contain any other creative materials (Ben & Jerrys
labels, toothpicks, silver, etc.) related to the lessons. To be considered excellent, your
scrapbook may not contain any grammatical or mechanical errors. I will provide you with a
scrapbook kit.

Materials provided in your scrapbook kit:

Construction paper for cover and pages

Hole punchers to create the binding of the scrapbook
Yarn to tie pages together

Materials you must find at home:

Pictures (magazines, printed, etc.)

Any related items to be glued in

Use your creativity to create a scrapbook that you believe best summarizes what you
learn from each lesson. At the end of the unit, we will share our scrapbooks and write a
reflection on our individual experiences with the project.

Sincerely,
Ms. Baker, Dubinski, Holbrook, Knauer, Nichols, Reed, Smith, Walsh, Welsh, and Wolf
