Vajrapani Mahachakra

The Exclusive Sadhana of the Principal Deity

Shri Vajrapani Maha Chakra,

Magnificent Vajra-inHand Great Wheel
NAMO GURU VAJRAPANIYE

Here, as aspired to, cultivate Guhyapatti Maha Chakra (The Secret

Lord of the Great Wheel). One should proceed by taking refuge,
generating bodhichitta, and meditating on the four immeasurable
thoughts.

Taking refuge and generating bodhichitta

I go for refuge until I am enlightened.
To the Buddha, the Dharma, and the Supreme Assembly.
By the merit that I create,
By practicing giving and other perfections,
May I attain enlightenment to benefit all beings. (3x)

The four immeasurable thoughts

How wonderful it would be if all sentient beings were to abide in
equanimity, free from hatred and attachment.
May they abide in equanimity.

Vajrapani Mahachakra

I myself will cause them to abide in equanimity.

Please, guru-deity, grant me blessings to be able to do this.
How wonderful it would be if all sentient beings had happiness and
the cause of happiness.
May they have happiness and its cause.
I myself will cause them have happiness and its cause.
Please, guru-deity, grant me blessings to be able to do this.
How wonderful it would be if all sentient beings were free from
suering and its cause.
May they be free from suering and its cause.
I myself will cause them to be free from suering and its cause.
Please, guru-deity, grant me blessings to be able to do this.
How wonderful it would be if all sentient beings were never separated from the happiness of higher rebirth and liberation.
May they never be separated from these.
I myself will cause them never to be separated from these.
Please, guru-deity, grant me blessings to be able to do this. (3x)

Self-generation of the deity

Purify in emptiness.
OM SVABHAVA SHUDDHA SARVA DHARMA SVABHAVA
SHUDDHO HAM

From within the state of emptiness [appears the syllable] PAM from
which arises a variegated lotus with eight petals. At the center of the
lotus are Brahma and Indra, lying on their left sides. Resting on their
arms are sun and moon cushions on which appears a syllable HUM.
The HUM transforms into a wrathful five-pronged vajra, marked
with HUM. From the vajra light radiates [in all directions] and fulfills
the two purposes [of self and others].

Vajrapani Mahachakra

The light reabsorbs into the vajra, and I am completely transformed

into Buddha Maha Chakra, draped with blue garments, with three
faces and six arms. [I am standing with my] right leg bent and my
left leg extended. The central face is dark blue in color like a storm
cloud. The right face is conch white, the upper teeth biting my lower
lip. The left face is brilliantly ruby red.
All three faces are round like a full moon mandala. Each face has
three red round blazing eyes. I appear with a fiercely wrathful demeanor: tongues rolling, fangs gnashing, and wrathful wrinkles between my brows. My voice announces thunderous sounds of HUM
HUM and AH LA LA to all the ten directions. My fiery breath exudes burning flames, and my red-yellow hair streams upward. The
hair topknot on my crown is adorned by Akshobhya. My stomach is
broad and hangs loosely above my legs.
The first right hand raises a five-pronged wrathful vajra; the first
left hand is in the gesture of threatening (dik zup). The two middle hands clap together loudly and embrace the beautiful goddess
mother, who holds in her hands a curved knife and skullcup. The
two last hands grasp the outcastes thob gyu and rig den nag po by
their waists, while biting on their heads and trodding on their tails
underfoot.
At the heart of the father, upon a sun mandala is the wisdom being
(ye she sem pa) Vajrapani, blue in color with one face and two arms,
right hand holding a vajra and left hand in the threatening mudra.
Seated with his left leg extended, he wears a blue upper garment
and a tiger skin skirt. At his heart on a sun disk is the concentration
being, a radiant dark blue HUM emanating five-colored lights.
[I, Vajrapani Maha Chakra, am] seated amidst a huge body of wisdom flames, and become the embodiment of the three beings: a
white OM at the crown, a red AH at the throat, and a blue HUM at
the heart.

Vajrapani Mahachakra

Invoking the wisdom beings and empowering

deities
From the HUM at my heart, lights radiate in all directions, inviting
the wisdom beings and the empowering deities who resemble the
visualization.
JAH HUM BAM HOH

[The wisdom beings are absorbed and] become indivisibly one.

The empowering deities perform the initiation. Akshobhya adorns
Vajrapani Maha Chakras crown.

Offerings and praise

Bless the oerings in accordance with highest yoga tantra.
OM VAJRA AMRITA KUNDALI HANA HANA HUM PHAT
OM SVABHAVA SHUDDHA SARVA DHARMA SVABHAVA
SHUDDHO HAM

All becomes empty. From the sphere of emptiness arises, from AH,
skullcups, inside of which appear HUMs. From the melting of the
HUMs arise the substances endowed with three characteristics: in
nature, bliss and voidness; in aspect, the various oering substances; and in function, granting uncontaminated bliss.
OM AH HUM (3x)

Having thus blessed, then oer with:

OM VAJRAPANI SAPARIVARA ARGHAM to SHABDA
PRATICCHA SVAHA

Vajrapani Mahachakra

Bless the inner oerings with:

OM VAJRA AMRITA KUNDALI HANA HANA HUM PHAT
OM SVABHAVA SHUDDHA SARVA DHARMA SVABHAVA
SHUDDHO HAM

All becomes empty. From emptiness appears AH. It becomes a broad

and expansive skullcup containing the five meats and the five wisdom nectars. The contents melt and transform into a great ocean of
nectar of pristine awareness.
OM AH HUM HA HO HRIH (3x)

Then make the inner oering.

OM VAJRAPANI SAPARIVARA OM AH HUM

Make the praise:

Powerful and fierce,

Immaculate monarch of the knowledge (vidya) mantra,
Reformer of the most dicult to reform:
To the Vajra Holder, I prostrate.

Mantra recitation
Follow the instructions. Without any distraction from your concentration (samadhi) recite the mantras:

Heart mantra
OM NILAM BARA DHARA VAJRAPANI HRIDAYA MAHA
KRODHA SATTVA HUM PHAT

Vajrapani Mahachakra

Near-heart mantra (nye nying)

OM NILAM BARA DHARA VAJRAPANI RAJNYA PAYATI SVAHA

Recite as much as you are able.

At the conclusion, dedicate the merits for the attainment of enlightenment.

Dedication Prayers
Through the merits of these virtuous actions,
May I quickly attain the state of Vajrapani Maha Chakra,
And lead all living beings, without exception,
Into that enlightened state.
May the supreme jewel bodhichitta
That has not yet arisen, arise and grow,
And may that arisen not diminish,
But increase more and more.
Just as the brave Manjushri, and Samantabhadra, too,
Realized things as they are,
I also dedicate all these merits in the best way,
So that I may follow their perfect example.
I dedicate all these roots of virtue
With the dedication praised as the best
By the victorious ones of the three times,
So that I might perform the noble bodhisattvas deeds.

Long life prayer for H. H. the Dalai Lama

In the land encircled by snow mountains
You are the source of all happiness and good;
All-powerful Chenrezig, Tenzin Gyatso,
Please remain until samsara ends.
