WhentimecamefortheHarrisonsisterstochoosewhatsporttheywantedtopursueinhighschool,itwasnosurprise
thatallthreegirlsbecameswimmers.
Sydelle,EmilyandMattiHarrisonhavebeenswimmingsincetheyweretoddlers.TheychosetojointheArizona
Marlins,alocalclubteam.Sincethen,thegirlshavebeengoingtopracticetwiceadayat5:30a.m.and4:30p.m.fortwo
hoursasidefromschoolpractices.
Thegirlstriedmanydifferentsportsandactivitiessuchassoftball,volleyballandgymnasticsbeforeultimatelydeciding
tostickwithswimming.
TheylikedswimmingthemostandIlikedthattheychoseit,saidtheirmom,Roni.
Emilysaidthatitallstartedoutasjustjoiningaclubteamthentheyprogressivelybecamebettereachday.
WepracticeeverydayexceptSunday,saidSydelle.Butweenjoyit.

balancingtheirbusylives.

Whenitcametimetotransitionintohighschoolswimming,thechoicewassimple.Thegirlsfollowedintheirmothers
footstepsandchosetoattendArcadiaHighSchool.
Iwentthere.TheywantedtogohereandIwasglad,saidRoni.
ThegirlswereawareoftheArcadiaswimprogramfromfellowclubmemberswhoattendedtheschoolandhadpositive
feedback.InthisyearsStateMeet,Arcadiasgirlsteamfinishedsecond.
Wedidreallywellthisseason,saidMatti,whowasawardedoneoftheMostValuableSwimmersattheendofthe
yearteambanquet.
Thegirlsallcompeteindifferentevents.Sydelle,whoisaseniorthisyear,participatesinthebreaststrokerelay.Emily,a

junior,swimsbutterflyandfreestylerelays.Matti,afreshman,swimsbackstrokeandrelays.
Sincethegirlsareallsisters,theyhaveendlesssupportfromeachotheraswellasfamilymembers.
Ourparentsgotoeverysingleswimmeet,andsodoourgrandparents,saidSydelle.
Sydellesaidthatallthesistersarealwaystheretosupportandunderstandeachotherandwhattheyaregoingthrough.
Shesaid,Ithinkitwouldbedifferentifwewereallindifferentsports.
Weprobablywouldntbeascloseasweare,saidMatti.
SincethisisSydellesfinalyearatArcadiaHighSchool,thegirlswillhavetoadjusttonothavingtheirtriopresentat

do.Sheisgladthattheylearnedthatthroughexerciseandfocusonschool,theycouldaccomplishwhattheywantinlife.
Theyvealreadyaccomplishedeverythingthatwewantedthemto,shesaid.Theyarewellroundedyoungladies,and
wearesoproudofthem.Ilookforwardtowatchingthemgrowintheirswimmingcareers.
