their seats, get a pencil handy, turn their voices off, and
prepare to learn.
Procedures:
*Morning: Students will enter classroom quietly, hang up
coats and backpacks, make lunch choice, sharpen pencils,
have homework out and complete, and sit in their seats.
*Warm up: Students will begin journal entry, as shown on
the board, first thing each morning.
*Absent work: Each student will have a folder with their
name on it, in a blue bin. When a student is absent, they
will check their folder when they return to school to pick up
the work that they missed.
*Late Assignments: Students will be able to turn work in for
up to two days passed their due date, but with the
consequence of a lowered grade (10% deducted for one
day late, 20% deducted for two days late).
*Lining up: Straight line, Hands at our side, Voices Silent,
Eyes Forward.
*Dismissal:
*Students will make sure their homework is written in
their agendas.
*Students will pack up all supplies needed to go
home.
*Students will remain seated as they wait for the bell.
The teacher will dismiss the class after the bell rings
if all students are seated.
Roles:
My role as a teacher will be to keep my students safe, to use a
variety of ways to educate them to the best of my ability, to
create a warm and welcoming environment, to be respectful,
understanding, prepared, patient, passionate, and professional.
The roles of students will be to be respectful, responsible, safe,
and ready to learn.
I will communicate with parents in many of ways including email, phone, and a classroom website. I plan on making calls to
parents not only about something negative that may have
happened concerning their child, but to make positive calls as
well. I also plan on collecting all parents e-mail to remind them
of certain events going on at school (for instance a field trip). I
also plan on setting up a classroom website where the agenda
for each day is posted. I will involve parents/caregivers by
hosting Muffins for Moms and Donuts for Dad a couple of times
a year, where moms/dads will be invited to the classroom for
muffins and donuts. I will also invite parents to visit and read a
book to the class, or tell the class about their profession. I will
also invite parents to chaperone on fieldtrips and to spend
holiday parties with us as well. Each Friday, I will send home a
newsletter with students summarizing to parents what we
learned that past week (along with pictures of students) and
what the next week holds.
