And so they packed and away they went Mother and daughter delight For a day in the warmth and light. Twirls of light brown, dark brown A dash of pink, red, yellow, Tiny rosebuds intertwined in her braid She pranced, in the meadow she played. Her Ma taught her to braid her hair, She practiced on her long black waves. Picking the daisies, roses to add So she could see the pretty colors clad. She danced so free, music in her head, Smiling into the flowers. The blue blue sky and the birds all singing She hummed along too, her head ringing And when she climbed down to the waterside, to watch the fishies swim by. She squealed, Ma! Ma! Look! They sat together, watching the brook. And finally when the sun went down, They packed up and they left Smiling, laughing, singing, dancing The tall grass in the sunlight glancing. Today she swears she still remembers The colors, the sunset, the breeze on her face My grandma, today at 83... That beautiful day with her Ma. (It's the little moments that count. They're never to be forgotten.)
