Field&Day:&Valencia&Secondary&School&

Dear&Journal,&
Todays& field& day& gave& me& the& opportunity& to& view& lessons& taught& at& a& different& angles& from& a&
different&group.&The&set&inductions&were&all&good&and&captured&the&attention&of&the&students.&The&first&
lesson&saw&the&students&completely&engaged&in&the&class&activity&from&start&to&finish.&
As&the&lessons&progressed&I&saw&the&need&and&importance&of&setting&the&right&tone&for&the&class.&
The&need&for&teachers&to&work&alongside&the&students&was&slightly&insufficient.&Teachers&are&to&be&always&
mindful&that&we&are&catering&for&and&to&the&knowledge&and&pace&of&the&students&rather&than&what&we&
may&think&they&know.&A&little&more&time&could&be&spent&on&choosing&the&most&appropriate&method&for&
presentation&of&a&lesson;&and&efficient&time&management.&It&is&imperative&that&teachers&place&themselves&
in&the&position&as&a&student&to&better&understand&and&set&the&lesson.&I&realize&that&even&a&teachers&best&
lesson&has&room&for&greater&improvement,&structure,&and&strategy.&
Nevertheless,& the& lessons& were& interestingly& unique& and& highlighted& the& necessity& to& strive& for&
efficacy&in&the&teaching&profession.&I&must&say&it&was&a&rewarding&day&and&I&look&forward&to&the&next&field&
