Development of Gyropress Method
Since its first application to a project in northern Japan in 2004, Gyropress
method has been successfully utilized for installing tubular piles on more than 80
environmentally challenging projects there. Please see the attached table for the
past Gyropress projects. The innovative Gyropress equipment rotates and
simultaneously press-in the tubular pile into the ground. The pile toe is equipped
with a sacrificial cutting shoe, so the tubular pile can cut into hard soil including
rock and solid obstacles including existing concrete structures without having to
remove it. Just to summarize the advantages of this innovation, itis;
1, Penetrating through hard ground and concrete obstructions and simultaneously
installing a tubular pile.
It eliminates need for prior removal of obstru

2. Capable of working under physical restrictions.
Thanks to the underlying Press-in piling technology, its pile driving operations
can be done within the minimum work zone. So, it is very suited for physically
narrow and tight jobsites or projects underneath overhead obstructions. In
addition, it does not require temporary working platforms for supporting the
‘equipment since it “walks” on already installed piles.
3. Very environmentally-friendly construction.
It is quiet and generates almost no vibration. And, settlement and lateral
movement of the surrounding ground is minimal due to the fact that the soil is
not removed or shaken by this pile installation. It also uses bio-degradable oil
and grease.
4. Offering a wide range of options in useable pile diameters and tube wall
configurations for an economical solution.
Six different models can deal with tubular piles ranging from 500mm to
2,500mm in diameter. Some models can install batter piles besides standard
vertical piles.
