Organizer/Agenda

Have each of the Stations at the front of the class and in order to
explain to the students. Write the groups on the board (cover with

Introduction

Ask the students if they enjoy playing games in Math class?
Explain to them that today is Math games Day. We can only

Today is a review from the ideas learned in the previous class.
All students will listen carefully to instructions

5. Have the class come back as a group to play the last two
games
Body
Explain to the class each of the centers. Explain that every
group will have a chance to go to each of the centers. Explain
that they have 8 minutes at each center and then they have to
switch. The timer will be put on the smartboard
Center #1: Skip Counting Target Game
They must try to hit a number that they would say either by
counting by 2s, 5s, or 10s on the 50 chart with the sticky
arrow. If they land on a number that you would say when
counting by 2s they get 2 points. If they land on a number
when counting by 5s they get 5 points. If they land on a
number counting by 10s they get 10 points. Each person in the
groups must take turns.

Center 4: Necklace Skip Counting

At this station you will make a necklace using frootloops. Start
with the number 0 and add 4 fruit loops and then add a piece of
paper saying 5. Then you will had 4 more fruit loops and then a
10. Etc. You can do this skip counting by 2s, 5s or 10s.
Ask questions while explaining each activity. Do the students
look confused during the explanation? Do they look like the
understand?
Reveal the groups that were previously written on the board.
Write on the board where each group will be going. Remind the
students that they have 8 minutes at each station and then we
will switch. Have the students go to their station and start the
timer for 9 minutes. Once the timer is at 8 minutes shut off the
lights and have the students clean up their station. When the
buzzer goes the class can move to the next station. Repeat this
until each group has gone to every station.
Walk around to each group as they are working at the station
and answer any questions. Are they understanding skip
counting? What areas are they having trouble with?
Have the students all sit down on the mats in a circle on the
side of the room. Explain the Hot Potato Game Have one
person volunteer to be the counter. That person will take a card
from the bad (start with 10s). They will read the card. They will
count by 10s slowly. Each time the counter says a new number
the kids in the circle will pass the Kush ball once to the right. As

the side in regards to how they are feeling about skip counting.
Do they understand it? Do they need some more help?

Time

Ask they class if they have any questions?

This will be based on their behavior and participation during
the centers
This will be based on their understanding of skip counting. If
they are needing more help we may do these centers again in
the next class. If they understood skip counting we can move
onto the next concept.
If there is extra time in the class we will have the class vote on their
favourite group game (hot potato or I have you have and we will replay
