Competent and safe practice in a professional, legal and ethical framework

I think that I am always prepared for the day with regards to materials and
equipment necessary for providing the best care. I feel that I have also obtained enough
information up to this point that I am capable to take care of most patients. I also find
that I am able to apply the knowledge I have learned prior to this clinical experience so
that I can support my reasoning for the choices I make regarding patient care and
provide the best care.
Communication
I think that my communication skills have improved over the course of this
semester. I find that I am better able to manage my time more efficiently with
documenting and tending to my patients needs. I am also able to evaluate my patients
health through assessments in a timely manner.
Caring relational practice
I think that I am a people person by nature. I love to listen and talk with people
especially with the patients to make their stay even a little bit more comfortable. I also
find that I have developed more confidence in my conversations with patients by not
hesitating and being silent most of the time. I think that I am able to converse with a
patient and I have improved on using our conversations to better improve on the care I
provide for them.
Leadership and advocacy
I think that I need to develop on resolving conflicts regarding patient care where it
may harm or better the patients care. I also need to be more open to feedback I receive
from my peers and be willing and competent in reciprocating the feedback when
necessary.
Plans of care: Meeting Clients Needs and Mutually Agreed Expected Outcomes
I think that I take into consideration all the needs of the patients as well as the
outcome of the patient in order to provide the best care. I have taken the goal for the
patient and used that as the base to my patient care. I also feel that I am capable of
using the knowledge that I have to provide the best care for the patient so that they
achieve the best outcome.
Collaborative Practice
I think that I have some developing still to do around the concept of working as a
member of the interprofessional team. I find that I am capable of providing adequate
care for the patient and their families using my knowledge and communication skills to
do that. I also feel that I need to include my colleagues in developing my care plan to
provide the best care for the patient.

Quality Assurance
I think that I have obtained adequate knowledge to date so that I may provide
patient care but also have reasoning and support behind any decision or choice that I
make. I feel that I have become familiar but not yet perfected how to provide care to a
patient by also keeping in the back of my head, whether my decision will harm myself in
the process.
Critical Thinking, Problem Solving and Decision Making
I feel that I need to gain more experience and be presented with more
challenging situations in order to develop my critical thinking skills. I still require a lot of
time to think about the situation presented to me and brainstorm all the factors regarding
the situation which puts a strain on my time. I find that by increasing my knowledge and
giving myself more experience in more challenging situations, this will help me develop
my skills.
