1. (i) Show that ~ [ p ∨ (~ p )] is a contradiction.

2. In a group of 50 people, 35 speak Hindi, 25 speak both English and Hindi and
all the people speak atleast one of the two languages. How many people speak
only English and not Hindi? How many people speak English?

3. Prove that the set of real numbers is an Abelian Group with respect to
Multiplication?

4. Prove that the intersection of any two subgroups of a group is again a


subgroup.

5. If G is a (p, q) graph and x is a vertex in G, Show that the degree of x in G is


p −1 − d G ( x ) .
6. A box contains 7 red, 6 white and 5 blue balls, in how many ways can three
balls be selected so that (i) all the three are red
(ii) none is red
(iii) one is of each colour
