President's Note - Bridget Beal

Event Spotlight: MOMS Night Out Pedicures!

As we get close to the end of our MOMS Club year elections are the main
topic of conversation so naturally I want to spend this time talking about
my own experience being on the board for the last three years.

What a great night! We went to Emily's Modern Salon & Spa

for
pedicures, wine, and cake! Emily's mom made us a delicious coconut
cake that was hard to refuse! We each selected our nail color and the fun
began! They even gave us a free sugar scrub for being a part of a large
party. Then we headed over to El Toritos for some happy hour
margaritas! It was a blast and I really loved catching up with you ladies!!

As election time came my first year in MOMS Club I insisted that I would
not be on the board but when the ballots were placed my name was the
only name on the secretary slot. I went straight to the current president
at the time and told her I was not interested in serving as the secretary
and she assured me that all I needed to do was attend board meetings
and member meetings and take the minutes at each one. That seemed
simple enough to me so I reluctantly agreed.
My first year in MOMS Club the club was on probation and not invited to
any of the regional lunches or board workshops, we didnt have
consistent events and most events were canceled at the last minute. I still
remember that first board meeting I attended after joining the board and
brainstorming things we could do to try and make our club more
successful. We got off probation pretty soon after the board change over
and that first November we were invited to the Regional Luncheon and
we have been recognized with awards for our clubs success ever since.

(/uploads/1/2/4/6/12464424/4391328_orig.j

The most important part of being on the board for me was the lifelong
friendships Ive made and the experiences Ive had the opportunity to
have. Insanely cheesy, I know but its completely true. The past three
years have been filled with MOMS Club friends and memories and
looking back and thinking that I didnt want to be apart of the board
seems so crazy to me now. I hope that if you feel unqualified to be on
the board that you would push that aside and give it a try even if you
reluctantly say yes like I did three years ago I bet you will find that its
more fun and rewarding than you think will be going in.
