By now you will have chosen and read a book that you were interested in, was at your
reading level and that you will use to complete one of the following assignments.
Step One: Choose from below one project that you will complete and present to the class about
your book. (Who was in it, what was it about, what was your favourite part, etc.)
Project Options:
A) Write a thirty second movie trailer script for your book that you can act out in front of the
class.
B) Draw a movie poster for your book that represents your book well and attach a paragraph
explaining why you drew what you did.
C) Write a one page summary of the book you read.
D) Write an alternate ending to your book.
E) Write a letter from one character to another from your book.
F) Make a front page newspaper story about a major event that happened in your book.
G) Create a new book cover for your book with at least one picture and a brief, one
paragraph, summary of your book.
H) Create a storyboard (comic strip) of an important part of your book.
Step Two: Work on completing your chosen assignment. You will be provided with class time to
complete this assignment but I also expect that you will use your time outside of the classroom,
meaning at home, to complete this assignment.
Step Three: Have your Book Review assignment ready to present for Thursday, December 11,
2014.

What to Include: To create a movie trailer that you can present in front of your classmates write
a brief plot summary, describe your favourite part and who the important characters were in your
book. Think of this as a book commercial in which you are promoting your book. You may dress
up as a character.
drawing or creating the one most important scene, event, person or item from your book. Student
Example:
(This is a very brief example of what an alternate ending would look like. Your alternate
ending would be a page and go in to much more detail but this is just a brief example of
how you can rewrite an ending to your story.)
Student Example: Here I would use two characters speaking from a current novel such as Harry
Potter.
Option G:
Technical Details: To create a new book cover for your good copy must be made using one sheet
of plain white paper. This is the smallest it can be but if you would like you can use Bristol
board, but it will not be supplied to you in class. Make sure to write your name and class on the
back of your good copy that you will hand in to me. Your brief, one paragraph summary of your
book must be typed in font style Times New Roman and font size twelve.
What to include: You must have one picture that represents your book to use as a front cover
and a brief, one paragraph summary of your book. Your paragraph can be stapled separately to
your book cover or you may include it on the back of your book cover to create a book cover
slip. You can also include a brief paragraph about the author or a main character in your novel if
you choose to do a book cover slip. Details are everything! A person should be able to look at
your book cover and have a general idea of what your book is about.
Student Example:
(This student example makes the reader think that the March on Versailles is about war and
royalty. Notice the crowns that two of the characters are wearing; detail is everything!)
Option H:
Technical Details: To create a storyboard (comic strip) about an important part of your book
draw the scene by breaking it down sentence by sentence. When writing your paragraph be
careful of spelling and run on sentences, meaning dont over use your commas. Its okay to make
two or three sentences out of one long sentence. Your good copy of your paragraph must be
typed in font style Times New Roman and font size twelve. Your storyboard (comic strip) must
be handed in on one sheet of plain white paper. Make sure to write your name and your class
on the back of your good copy to hand in.
What to include: Break the scene you choose to draw down step by step. You need detail, detail,
and more detail! You can have both pictures and words in your comic strip. I expect to be able to
look at your storyboard and be able to know what happened. To make sure I am understanding
what you drew correctly include an explanation, one paragraph, of what you drew and tell me
why you think it was an important part in your book.
