Option A: Movie Trailer

Technical Details: Your script should be typed on plain white paper double spaced, font style 12,
Times New Roman. Your name and class should be in the upper right hand corner.

Script must have a title.

What to Include: To create a movie trailer that you can present in front of your classmates write
a brief plot summary, describe your favourite part and who the important characters were in your
book. Think of this as a book commercial in which you are promoting your book. You may dress
up as a character.

Option B: Movie Poster

Technical Details: Your paragraph must be typed in font style 12 Times New Roman. Your good
copy must be handed in on one piece of either plain white paper or Bristol board with a one
paragraph summary of your movie poster attached to the back of your poster.
Please check your conventions before submitting. Put your name and your class on the back of
your poster before handing it in after you present in class. In the one paragraph write-up that
must be attached write a clear explanation of why you chose the scene, event, person or item that
you did. What did it or they do in your book? Explain why it was important for you to place it or
them on your poster. What to include: To draw a movie poster for your book imagine you are

drawing or creating the one most important scene, event, person or item from your book. Student

Option C: Book Summary

Technical Details: Your good copy must be typed in font style Times New Roman and font size
twelve and handed in double spaced on one sheet of plain white paper. Make sure to write your
name and your class on your good copy.
What to include in your summary: The summary is the happenings of the novel; who were the
main/important characters in your book, what are the big events that happened, the year and
place was your book set in, why was your book interesting to read/why should someone read that
same book?
Student example:
INKSPELL
Ink spell is a captivating fantasy by Corenelia
Funke. Inkspell is about a thirteen year old girl
named Meggie
whose
Option
D:love for books and magical
ability to bring the subject of any book to life, draw
her to the Inkworld, a place of amazing sites and
fantastic creature where danger lurks around every
corner. In the Inkworld, Meggie finds herself
running form the menacing Basta , who is trying to
get revenge of her for killing his former master,
Capricorn. All fantasy lovers will adore this book.
This book is a page turner, I couldnt put it down.

Option D: Alternate Ending

Technical Details: To write an alternate ending to your book, which must be at least one page
double spaced. Good copy must be handed in on one sheet of plain white paper, typed using font
style 12 Times New. Write your name and your class on your good copy to hand in.
What to include: In the alternate ending you will be writing for your book be as creative as
possible.
Student Example:
Cinderellas shoe fit the glass slipper but she realized a little too late upon her return to the
castle that the prince was not as great as people thought he was. The prince was actually very
selfish. He never had time to go horse riding, or to go for a walk or some days to even talk to
Cinderella. He spent most of his time being very vain admiring himself in the large glass mirrors
that lined the hallways of the castle. Cinderella ended up being very bored and sad. She realized
that a life with an evil stepmother and two awful step-sisters was better than living with a selfish
prince. Unfortunately she realized this a little too late.

(This is a very brief example of what an alternate ending would look like. Your alternate
ending would be a page and go in to much more detail but this is just a brief example of
how you can rewrite an ending to your story.)

Option E: Letter writing between two Characters.

Technical Details: Your letter should be a minimum of one page in length double spaced .Your
good copy must be handed in on one sheet of plain white paper, typed in font style 12 Times
New Roman .Write your name and class on the back of your letter.
What to include: To write a letter from one character to another from your book pretend to be
that character. Write your letter how your character would speak. This is where your choice of
words is a very important writing tool to use. If your character is from London write using terms
that your character would use. Stay in the mindset of your character throughout your whole
letter. The heading of your letter does not have to be a real address. You can even write a letter
from one character to another about a person or event from your book.

Student Example: Here I would use two characters speaking from a current novel such as Harry
Potter.

Option F: Newspaper story

Technical Details: To write a front page newspaper story you must write it on one page of plain
white paper. The long paper on the side table in the classroom is perfect for this assignment.
Your names and class must be written on the back of your newspaper before handing it in after
your presentation.
What to include: To create a front page newspaper story think of what a newspaper looks like.
The front page has the title of the newspaper in large type. There is usually at least one picture,
one main article, one smaller article and one side column where a person or local event is written
about. Be as creative as you want. Include social events and people from your book. Write about
a main event or person from your book or you could even do a side column about the author.
Your articles dont have to be long. One paragraph per article would be the least I expect.
Student Example:

Option G:
Technical Details: To create a new book cover for your good copy must be made using one sheet
of plain white paper. This is the smallest it can be but if you would like you can use Bristol
board, but it will not be supplied to you in class. Make sure to write your name and class on the
back of your good copy that you will hand in to me. Your brief, one paragraph summary of your
book must be typed in font style Times New Roman and font size twelve.
What to include: You must have one picture that represents your book to use as a front cover
and a brief, one paragraph summary of your book. Your paragraph can be stapled separately to
your book cover or you may include it on the back of your book cover to create a book cover
slip. You can also include a brief paragraph about the author or a main character in your novel if
you choose to do a book cover slip. Details are everything! A person should be able to look at
your book cover and have a general idea of what your book is about.
Student Example:

(This student example makes the reader think that the March on Versailles is about war and
royalty. Notice the crowns that two of the characters are wearing; detail is everything!)

Option H:
Technical Details: To create a storyboard (comic strip) about an important part of your book
draw the scene by breaking it down sentence by sentence. When writing your paragraph be
careful of spelling and run on sentences, meaning dont over use your commas. Its okay to make
two or three sentences out of one long sentence. Your good copy of your paragraph must be
typed in font style Times New Roman and font size twelve. Your storyboard (comic strip) must
be handed in on one sheet of plain white paper. Make sure to write your name and your class
on the back of your good copy to hand in.
What to include: Break the scene you choose to draw down step by step. You need detail, detail,
and more detail! You can have both pictures and words in your comic strip. I expect to be able to
look at your storyboard and be able to know what happened. To make sure I am understanding
what you drew correctly include an explanation, one paragraph, of what you drew and tell me
why you think it was an important part in your book.
