Closed-circuit television (CCTV) is a surveillance system that comprises cameras,

recorders and displays for monitoring activities in a store or company or in a public places.
CCTV is the use of video cameras to transmit a signal to a specific place, on a limited set of
monitors. It differs from broadcast television, in that the signal is not openly transmitted, though
it may employ point to point, point to multipoint, or mesh wireless links. Closed-circuit
television (CCTV) systems have been used to monitor private service industry interests and
traffic flows in industrial nations since the late 1950s. CCTV systems and other similar
technology tools are now widely used in most service industries, such as small businesses, in
parking lots, on buses, and in public places to ensure a high level of security quality, as well as
for service and crime detection. However, customers in a commercial service setting might
become more sensitive if they are aware of the existence of the CCTV systems. For example, a
research conduct showed that almost a quarter of the subjects did mind being watched by CCTV
systems in public. Therefore, CCTV notices used to advise the public of the existence of the
CCTV in commercial service environment might become a serious issue. There were different
views on what the primary purpose of CCTV was. Often there were multiple objectives cited by
the same individual or group. But, in my opinion, CCTV has more advantages rather than
disadvantages and the best objectives and advantages of CCTV system are crime prevention and
as a guardian of truth.
