My name is Jacob Gilliard, and I will be in your childs
math class this semester completing a field experience. I am a junior Elementary Education major at Claflin University, and I am very excited about this teaching opportunity. I am from Florence, SC. Over the past two years, I have been exposed to and volunteering in many classrooms to gain teaching experience and to learn teaching strategies from seasoned and veteran teachers. I have learned much from all the hands-on learning I have received, and I am positive it will help me during my field experience this semester in 3rd grade. Your students are eager to learn, and I am already enjoying working with them. During this semester, I will observe lessons, assist with lessons, and actually teach math lessons in the classroom. I will serve as extra support for students who need extra help, and provide extra practice for students who struggle. While I am learning the best strategies and methods for teaching math to 3 rd graders, I will get the chance to put all that I have learned into practice this semester. As I get to know your students, I will also learn about them as learners. I will come to realize each students strengths and weaknesses, and this will help me increase their learning when I am working with them. Since I will be there providing extra support and completing helpful tasks for the teacher, the teacher will have more time to plan and develop math activities for the students. I will always put my best foot forward in making sure your child learns and understands the content by relating it to them and carrying a positive attitude. I have a way of connecting with students, especially students who struggle or lack confidence in difficult subject areas. I believe that both the students and I will grow in many ways this semester. Thanks for sending your intelligent and eager learners to school each day so that I have the opportunity to work with them in science class. This is going to be a great and fun filled semester in science! I can be contacted at (555) 555-5555, (222) 2222222 or at mychildsteacher@yahoo.com. Sincerely, Jacob N. Gilliard
