Student Name: Cassandra Campbell

Activity: Color Panels

Age Group: 2-3

Date of Activity: 6/7/14

Wisconsin Model Early Learning Standards Addressed (write out standard in its
entirety, including developmental domain, standard and applicable substandard):
Approaches to Learning
A.
Curiosity, Engagement, and Persistence,

Engages in meaningful learning through attempting, repeating, experimenting,

refining and elaborating on experiences and activities
Cognition and General Knowledge
B.
Scientific Thinking,

Uses observation to gather information.

How will you check to see if the standard(s) is/are met? (What will you look for, observe or ask
about children to know they learned what you wanted them to learn?)
Children will see difference in colors by exploring the colors by looking through the
panels.
Listen for children becoming excited by making a new color by putting one panel over
the other.
Materials and Set Up Needed (Include all items needed for the activity including
materials/supplies, books, etc. Include the name and author of books; attach words/actions to
songs and finger-plays; identify any specific set up that may be required):
Color Panels of different colors. Such as yellow, red, blue, green.
Little Blue and Little Yellow by: Leo Lionni
Introduction (Include a visual or other creative attention getting technique; relate the introduction
to the activity):
Before the activity at group time we will read Little Blue and Little Yellow by: Leo
Lionni. After the book or as you are reading ask the children what is happening, or what
they think about what is happening in the book.
Procedure (order of the activity):

Children places panels over their eyes and see the area around them through one color. Adult may
talk about the color the child is looking through on the panel. Or even guide the children in mixing
the color panels to make different colors. Such as placing the yellow panel over the red panel
makes orange.
Closure/Transition (What will you say/do to let the children know the activity is over, to review
lessons learned, and to transition the children to the next activity; relate the closure to the activity
just completed?)

Modifications made for individuals:

Student Self Evaluation & Reflection:

The activity/lesson went well because..
The children laughed and had fun; some children even explored what it looked like to have a panel
of a different color over each eye. Ex: One child said Look at me Ms. Cassie. The child had a
blue color panel over his right eye, and a yellow color panel over his left eye.
The activity/lesson would be more successful next time if I would.
Have had more than just two color panels of each color
