Title:

Organization to keep you prepared for class

Summary:

Students will make a plan for when they stop at their lockers and
what they need to take with them in order to be prepared for
each class. They will also complete a Time Management matrix
to help them organize their responsibilities, assignments, and
fun.

Time Frame:

20 Minutes

Procedure:

1. Introduce the topic by explaining that for the next

several weeks, we will be exploring different ways
to stay organized. This week we will talk about
being prepared for classes and time management.
2. Have students open the My Class Schedule
worksheet and complete it based on their class
schedules. Direct them to write down in the
materials column all of the materials they will
need for each class, including pencils, folders,
Ipads, etc.
3. Now have students complete the Pit stop plan.
They do not need to use up ALL of the spots for Pit
stops but encourage students to plan to stop by
their lockers at least once between their arrival
and their last class so they are not carrying ALL of
their materials to every class. That can be
cumbersome and make it more difficult to keep
track of ones belongings.
4. Go over the Tips for Staying Organized.
5. Have students complete the Time Management
matrix. Activities they list should include
homework and other responsibilities, as well as
things like sports practice or hanging out with
friends.
NOTE: Encourage students to refer to their pit stop
schedule daily. Students could even take a screen shot
of the completed worksheet and save as their home
screen!

Evaluation
How will mastery of the
guidance indicator(s)
be evaluated?

Through completion of all assignments.
