Lesson Title: Understanding Numbers, Shapes and Color

Lesson Details:
This particular lesson is a fundamental way of memorizing numerical numbers in a sequence to as high as 20. By
doing so the teacher will have the ability to incorporate shapes, as of squares, triangles, and circles. Along with
doing so the teacher will develop a system in which primary colors will be incorporated into the lesson for a more
engaging experience. The teacher will begin introducing the different shapes and the amount shown in the picture.
The student will then, have to identify the color and the shape that specified. For a more hands on experience, the
teacher will give the students the ability to practice more on either a computer or iPad technology system in which
there is an app called Play Lab that touches on basically every aspect of the lesson. In order for each student to
have a chance, the teacher will have a rotation set up. Concluding the lesson, the teacher will ask a general question
on what the students liked, and disliked. Students then will respond in an open discussion.

Content Area: General mathematics, shapes, and colors

Grade Level: PreK-1st

UBD Stage I: Identify Desired Results

Standards:
CC.2.1.PreK.A.1:
Know number names and the count sequence.
CC.2.1.PreK.A.2:
Count to tell the number of objects.
CC.2.1.PreK.A.3:
Compare numbers.
CC.2.K.A.1:
Know number names and write and recite the count sequence.

CC.2.1.K.A.2:
Apply one-to-one correspondence to count the number of objects.
CC.2.1.K.A.3:
Apply the concept of magnitude to compare numbers and quantities.
CC.2.1.1.B.1:
Extend the counting sequence to read and write numerals to represent objects.
ISTE Standards

1. Creativity and innovation: Students demonstrate creative thinking, construct knowledge, and develop
innovative products and processes using technology.
4. Critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making: Students use critical thinking skills to plan and
conduct research, manage projects, solve problems, and make informed decisions using appropriate digital tool and
resources.

Learning Objectives:
Students will be able to
1. Memorizing numerical numbers in a sequence to as high as 20 at a 85% accuracy level (Assessment 1)
2. Distinguishing the amount shown of different shapes at a 85% accuracy level (Assessment 2)
3. Match the amount shown of the different shapes at a 90% accuracy level (Assessment 3, 4)
4. Apply and identify the amount of the shape shown, the shape, and its color at a 90% accuracy level
(Assessment level 3, 4)
5. Discuss and examine the likes and dislikes of the lesson a whole at a 90% accuracy (Assessment 5)

Enduring Understandings:

Memorizing numbers in, and out of order for a better understanding of the numbers.

Having the ability to identify the different shapes: square, triangle, and circle and the amount thats provided

Ability to identify and distinguish quantity and color

Essential Questions:

What are the number, and their amount?

How to apply numbers in ever day life?

How to distinguish the differences between the different shapes, the amount shown and the particular color?

UBD Stage II: Determine Acceptable Evidence

Assessments:
1. Students will be informally assessed of their ability on memorizing numerical numbers in a sequence.
2. Students will be informally assessed of their ability of distinguishing the amount shown of different shapes
applied in the lesson with numbers. The teacher will examine the students results.
3. Students will be informally assessed of their ability on applying and identifying the amount of the shape shown,
the shape, and its color.
4. Students will be assessed of their understanding and their ability in solving, matching numbers, with and amount
of shapes along with colors. The teacher will ask students questions to guide them through a class discussion

Rubric/Scoring Criteria:
Homework Problems will be scored out of a total of 5 points each.
In-class assessment tasks will be scored as follows:
Completion / All Work Shown

/2

Correct amount numerical numbers matched with amount of shapes shown

/2

Correct matching of colors

/2

Correct identifying shapes

/2

Understanding over all content

Total

UBD Stage III: Plan Learning Experiences and Instruction

Materials and Resources:

Pencil

Crayons

IPads/Computer

Number line

Shape outline

Homework Worksheet

Procedures and Content:

Phase 1: Introduction and Conclusion
T: Describe to the students what will be formally introduced in the lesson they are working with
during the lesson.
S: Ask any question that may pertain with the description of the lesson
T: Hand Paper available for student to work on while the lesson is being taught
S: Writes what is seen on board, as to following the teachers instructions.

Adaptations:

Student with a learning disability: Make sure students will have teach availability for extra assists. If needed, he
students will be first to work with technology for a better understand and more hands on learning.

Homework: Students have two-days worth of homework. They will have the ability
of working with ice cream scoops for number problems and colors. The other half of
the homework will formally work with shapes, and colors. It will help build up a hot
air-balloon.
