Re : Renewal of Licence after the date of expiry

With reference to above, it is observed that in many instances the agency licence
renewal cases which are sent to us are not complete in all aspects as per the
requirements in this regard. We, therefore request you to ascertain that all points as
enumerated in the checklist below are checked at your end before forwarding the
licence renewal papers to us:

1. The application should only be made on form “ IRDA -“Agents” –


VA”. The application should be complete in all respects.
2. Letter from the agent giving specific and genuine reason for
not being able to renew the licence on time. If the letter is in
some regional language, Hindi/ English translation may kindly be
attached with.
3. Letter from the Development Officer giving in writing the
efforts made by him to get the licence renewed.
4. Data Sheet duly filled up should be attached with each case. No
part of it should be left out and both the Designated Person and
the Sr./Branch Manager should affix their seals beneath their
signature.
5. The Demand Draft of Rs.1000 /- payable at MUMBAI only in
favour of ‘L.I.C. of India’ should be enclosed with the case.( The
Office may ensure that the details of the applicant i.e. the
name,agent code no.etc.are mentioned on the reverse of the DD)
6. The attested copy of the old licence or Branch Manager’s
letter mentioning the date of expiry is required.
7. The attested copy as a proof of education qualification is
required.
8. The case has to be recommended by the Designated
Person and it should be as per proviso to section 3 (A) of
Section 42 of Insurance Act,1938. Business particulars for the
last three years may be given along with new business
particulars for the current year.
9. NOC from other Insurer ( It should be given on the Letter
Head of concerned insurance company) wherever is required .
10. Certificate of 25 hrs training is required.
( It should be given on DTC/ATC’S Letter Head )
11. Licence number given should be correct.
12. A copy of the old (expired) Agency Licence duly attested by
the Sr./Branch Manager is required.
