Evaluations
Mid-Term Evaluation
The following were thoughts I posted in a daily reflective journal after speaking to co-workers.
My initial supervisor was in the midst of leaving ALT, so I asked others that I worked closely
with on the subject.
Our Community Agriculture Director complimented me on my positive attitude and on
my people skills with clients. Early in the week I met with a client that really needed some
assistance creating and managing a business plan-this client reads on a third grade level. My
supervisor overheard much of our discussion and commented that she was impressed with the
way that I spoke to the lady and commended the advice that I gave her. Another strength I heard
from a co-worker is that I am always available and eager to take on tasks, clerical and farm
duties alike.
I know there are several weaknesses that I can improve upon, and I wont hesitate to
speak to my supervisor about these at our weekly meeting tomorrow. One co-worker
recommends that I speak up more in the board room during staff discussions and that I have

more confidence in myself. I think I can use this constructive feedback and transform my lack
of confidence weakness by becoming more knowledgeable about certain topics.
Final Evaluation
I spoke with my second supervisor, Kelley Thompson, after she filled out a Final Evaluation on
my intern character and experiences as directed by our teacher. I was thrilled to hear the many
positive characteristics she felt that I exhibited, such as an optimism and energy at each task, and
ability to really work well and impress a variety of coworkers and clients. When I asked her for
constructive criticism, she said that I could have initiated more tasks of my own, instead of just
performing tasks given to me, and I do agree with her and plan to initiate more ideas of my own
in the future workplace. Also, I agree with her that I can have more confidence to speak up about
ideas and during meetings.
Responsibilities
My duties as an intern at Athens Land Trust differed from day-to-day, which I learned to
love once I learned to manage my schedule. To begin with, I was to help organize and call
farmers and guest speakers each week during the set of Farmer Business Classes. During the
week, I was called upon by various staff members to help out where I was needed, such as
assisting Food Corp Fellows with Taste Tests, lending a hand at one of the gardens,
communicating daily with clients and volunteers, performing outreach, gathering food-based and
support based donations for certain meetings, and planning for the market season out at the West
Broad Farmers Market.
In respect to the CFLE Matrix, I had the opportunity to observe a lot of Planning and
Organization, particularly because I was invited to attend Community Agriculture Staff
meetings, and we all get a say in planning the Farmers Market and other events. For this

planning, we really considered objectives mentioned on the matrix, such as Families in Societies
and the Internal Dynamics of Families, to think through which events would be appropriate and
needed at markets, for example, recruiting health organizations for family and individual
screenings at the market. I also witnessed a lot of Program Development since ALT has a new
CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program, and since there was a lot of West Broad
Garden Summer Camp planning that occurred.
In addition, I have experienced a lot of Presentation Skills and Teaching Methods at the
many meetings and conference events that I was able to attend. I put the CFLE section into use
when I helped lead field trips out at the farm and taste tests at schools. For events like this, I
considered Human Growth and Development and Individuals and Families.

Networking possibilities
My coworkers and supervisors at Athens Land Trust were so knowledgeable in so many
different areas, from agriculture, to business, and even to traveling and continuing education
advice. They will be a great network to maintain and I even had coworkers that have added me
on LinkedIn and even told me they would be happy to refer me for jobs in the future.
Most memorable experience
Out of the many wonderful experiences during my internship, there is one particular day
that I will highlight as holding a great value within my heart. On the first day of the Georgia
Organics Conference, I went out to the West Broad garden and picked carrots, arugula, and
spinach, then brought this produce to Rashe's Cuisine, one of the West Broad Market vendors.
Rashe, the owner at this small and beautiful business in the Athens area used this produce to
cook meals for catering at a tour that Athens Land Trust hosted out at the garden for the

conference. I came in on the day of the tour to help her finish with preparations- she gave me
cooking tips, we talked culture, and she made me taste test the food ( I didn't mind this one bit!).
I helped set the food up and enjoyed bragging on her healthy, unique cooking methods to the tour
group, all of which were very intrigued. This day I really cherished the interaction of local food,
community, culture, and education.
