Day 5: How the branches work together


Introduction (5 minutes):
o Play video from day one
o Sing the 3 Branches song together
Three corners of the classroom will be labeled (ESE/ESOL I will model
walking to each corner and will say the name of each corner aloud) and
I will describe aspects of one of the three branches, the students will
then get up and walk to the corner that they think that describes. I will
play patriotic music off the Patriotic Music Box App. They will have
until I stop the music to pick a corner. (ESE/ESOL Students will be
given the questions prior to the activity and will be able to access them
during the exercise) (15 minutes)

Students will be split up into small groups, being sure to pair
ESE/ESOL students with a partner (ESE/ESOL). Each group will
receive three hula-hoops and slips of pre-typed facts to create a huge
graphic organizer (ESE/ESOL)(10 minutes)
As a class, we will use the Interactive White Board to go over what
facts went into each hula-hoop. Then based off the facts in the hula
hoops we will add arrows showing the relationship between each
branch. As we do this, the students will fill in their own graphic
organizer (ESE/ESOL students will be able to work with a partner). (30
minutes)
