The following experiences with technology and digital resources are examples of learning
activities in which students might engage during Grades 912 (ages 1418):
1. Design, develop, and test a digital learning game to demonstrate knowledge and skills
related to curriculum content. (1, 4)
This could include flashcards with vocabulary or key terms.
2. Create and publish an online art gallery with examples and commentary that demonstrate
an understanding of different historical periods, cultures, and countries. (1, 2)
An example of this would be posting the pictures to an online forum with a hint to what
time period they are form. I would ask the students to state the time period and write a
sentence or two about the event pictured.
3. Select digital tools or resources to use for a real-world task and justify the selection based
on their efficiency and effectiveness. (3, 6)
This could include students using windows movie maker to create their own movie
project based describing how to complete a skill needed after high school, such as
creating a resume, balancing a checkbook, cooking a meal, etc.
4. Employ curriculum-specific simulations to practice critical-thinking processes. (1, 4)
An example of this would be having students act out scenes from history or have them
participate in their own form of government.
5. Identify a complex global issue, develop a systematic plan of investigation, and present
innovative sustainable solutions. (1, 2, 3, 4)
This could be discussing one of the world wars. Students could pose a question and
research to find their answer. They can discuss things they would have done differently or
ways the conflict could have been avoided.
Another example of this would be having the students create a volunteer project working
with an issue such as global warming or finding alternative fuel sources.
6. Analyze the capabilities and limitations of current and emerging technology resources and
assess their potential to address personal, social, lifelong learning, and career needs.
(4, 5, 6)
An example of this would be providing an internet safety and use of social media talk. I
would discuss good and bad ways to participate in the online community and give
students alternatives that are safe.
7. Design a Web site that meets accessibility requirements. (1, 5)
As a class, we could create a website that includes notes and study guides for the class.
This would be a way for students to work together in order to improve their grades and
have a better understanding of the material.

8. Model legal and ethical behaviors when using information and technology by properly
selecting, acquiring, and citing resources. (3, 5)
An example of this would be dedicating class time to teaching citation methods and
proper use of material that is not ones own.
9. Create media-rich presentations for other students on the appropriate and ethical use of
digital tools and resources. (1, 5)
This would go along with the class teaching the safe use of the internet and social media,
as well as the presentation about citations. I would have students use an online source
such as animoto or prezi in order to show what they have learned about the presentation.
10. Configure and troubleshoot hardware, software, and network systems to optimize their use
for learning and productivity. (4, 6)
