Responsible for holding state wide summer reading training, ordering materials and
distributing supplies and creating a Libguide for summer reading. This year we held two
day-long trainings for over 320 librarians. We had more attendees at this training than the
annual Tennessee Library Association conference.
Increased summer reading participating in the state by 33%, and our statewide program
offerings increased 206%. In collaboration with public libraries, the State Library used
intensive marketing, targeted training, and onsite program planning to achieve this increase.
Transformed the state library continuing education program. We are now creating a state
wide competency based training program for all library staff with assessment, training, and
measurement protocols. This training plan will be on a five year cycle and will work with local
libraries to ensure that all library staff has the skills to do their job.
Launched Versal an online course creation tool. This ability is a first for the state and will
allow us to expand the depth of course content for our libraries.
Create, facilitate and evaluate state wide assessment including surveys, focus groups and
outcome tracking for summer reading. We have recently moved to outcome based data
collection and I am part of the team working on this implementation. I also led the team that
instituted qualitative evaluation and peer evaluation into the training program.

communicating with participants. This year 24 library directors will graduate from the
program with 240 contact hours.
Created a secondary leadership school for assistant library directors who want to become
library directors called the Emerging Leaders Academy. It is a four day program that ends in
