Area of Concern

Needs Assessment

The area of concern

was the need to
reach out to our
bilingual parents in
order to help them
read to their children
by teaching them
strategies as well as
having them bond
with their children
when reading.

The project was

selected because it
was a pilot project
that came to our
district and I chose to
implement it on our
campus in order to
involve our bilingual
parents and help
them feel they are
important in their
childrens first years
of academics.

Name of Project: Latino Literacy Project

Projects Action
Plan
The major
implementation
steps and times
were:
1. A training was
held before school
started and several
teachers were
trained in order to
implement it on their
campus.

Evaluation
The instruments
that will be used to
evaluate the
effectiveness of the
project were
surveys given to
the parents before
and after the
course on how
much time daily
they spend reading
and conversing with
their children.

2. Met with principal

to plan for dates and
budget needed for
child care and snacks
for parents and
children.

3. Flyers were made

with dates of class
times and
confirmation of
attendance and
number of children
needed to be cared
for. It was offered to
all campus bilingual
parents.
