RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN EXCLUSIVE BREASTFEEDING WITH INCIDENCE OF

ACUTE DIARRHEA IN 0 UNTIL 1 YEARS OLD INFANT IN KURANJI PUBLIC

Abstract
Background Exclusive breastfeeding is one of the way to protect the children from
diseases such as diarrhea. Based on Riskesdas 2007, diarrheas is the most cause of
death in children 0-1 years old.
Objective To find relationship between exclusive breastfeeding with the incidence of
acute diarrhea in 0-1 years old infant in Kuranji Public Healths Center Padang.
Methods A cross sectional study with using simple random sampling to 0-1 years old
infant who visited Posyandu in Kuranji Public Healths Center Working Area.
Results We got 135 samples that suitable with our criteria. There were 75 (55.56%)
infant with exclusive breastfeeding. Total 57 (42.2%) infant suffered from diarrhea. Infant
with exclusive breastfeeding suffered from diarrhea only 11 (19%) compare with infant
who didnt get exclusive breastfeeding were 46 (76.7%).. From chi square analysis we got
significan relationship between exclusive breastfeeding and the incidence of acute
diarrhea (p=0.001, P<0.5)
Conclussion Exclusive breastfeeding can decrease the incidence of acute diarrhea in 01 years old infant.
