Lesson Focus: Focus of the lesson will be Football

Equipment and Facilities: For facilities, this lesson


will use the basketball courts on a blacktop for the
setting of the lesson. The equipment needed will be 2
hula-hoops, 2 soft foam balls, 2 cones, 2 dome cones.

Safety Considerations: Students will be advised to


keep their heads up and be aware of their
surroundings. When running students should run to the
side of the receiver. The teacher will make sure that
there is adequate personal space for each student when
appropriate.
Lesson Specifics
Behavioral Contingencies: Students will be expected

Describe the pre-class arrangement Students will come to the blacktop and put their backpacks by the fence
near the basketball courts and will sit down at home-base, which will be designated as the basketball court line
Teacher: The teacher will stand on the court facing the students
Students: the students will put their backpacks against the fence and take a seat at homebase on the line
Equipment: the poly spots and jerseys will be pre placed on the court.

Instant Activity: Hot Potato


Today we will begin with a game of hot
potato. In groups of 5 students will pass a
football around in random order. When
the teacher yells hot potato the student
holding the ball will have to perform 5
jumping jacks.

Set Induction:
We are going to be working on handoffs
today. The person who receives the ball is
the called the running back. The cues of
the skill when received a ball is:
Eyes-keep your eyes on the ball
Bunk Beds-Running to the right-Left arm
on top, right arm underneath
Running to the left- Right arm on top, left
arm underneath
Close-close the arms and cradle the ball

Purpose:
It is important to perform these cues
correctly to avoid dropping the ball and
causing a fumble.
Transition: Students will stand up and go
to the poly spots that are in groups of 3.
They will stand their and wait for the
teacher to hand them a ball
Lesson Core - Task 1: Hand off Drill
For this activity students will practice
hand offs and running with the football.
The student will stand at the first poly spot
with the ball. Another student will stand
on the second poly spot and they will be
the running back. Students will take turns
performing these hand offs in groups of 3
