Essential Question:
How do I publish my report?
Objectives & Assessment:
Given facts on arctic foxes, the student will publish a report.
Summative Assessment- Students will publish a report on Arctic Foxes using the draft they wrote.
Students will be assessed using the report rubric.
Activating Strategy:
Teacher will display a draft of her report on the board. Model with the students how to transfer the
report from the draft paper to the publishing paper. Model with students how to cross off each word as
they are written on the publishing paper.

Procedures
1. Conferencing
a. Individually meet with each student to review the draft.
b. Work with the student to make a few corrections.
c. Decide on a glow and a grow for the students.
d. Record on the glow/grow post it notes.
2. Publishing
a. Students will use their draft to publish their reports.
b. Students will create a cover for their report once their report is complete.
Summarizing Strategy:
Students will work on their Writers Workshop writing piece.
Differentiation:
Students struggling to publish their reports will work in a small group with the teacher. Students that are
advanced will be motivated to begin publishing their reports electronically.

CC.1.4.1.F: Demonstrate a grade- appropriate command of the conventions of standard English grammar,
usage, capitalization, punctuation, and spelling.
Capitalize dates and names of people.
Use end punctuation; use commas in dates and words in series.
Spell words drawing on common spelling patterns, phonemic awareness, and spelling conventions.
