Re:

Progress Report about our plan to support Solar Roadways

Purpose

Following the approval on April 10, 2015, this progress report

modernizes the information gathered so far and where it is leading us in
terms of our earlier proposal.

Introductio
n

Currently, the United States has a huge dependence on fossil fuels in

order to power our country. Not only is such massive dependence on
fossil fuels harmful to the environment, but it is having adverse effects
on the country as a whole. This came to be a problem because fossil
fuels are an easily accessible source of energy. With this information,
we would like to present a new and upcoming technology that will solve
not only energy problems in the U.S., but also allow us to expand as a
company. Solar Roadways is an innovative and creative solution to the
problem of energy and unused roads. The problem of the use of fossil
fuels is a large issue within the company because, while it provides
cheap power to our customers, supplies are not infinite, and we need to
think about the long term life of the company.

Completed
Work

Task 1. Research how we currently produce power in our country.

The United States is a large country that is supporting roughing
320 million citizens. (United States Census Bureau) We wanted to find
out how this country produced enough energy for all of its citizens to
use. So far, we have begun researching current energy systems and
green energy systems. We have sent a survey to others in the
department but received a low number of responses so in addition to
the survey, we have decided to use social media websites such as.
YouTube (Solar FREAKIN' Roadways!) and their Indiegogo ("CLICK
HERE to Support Solar Roadways.") page, to see if there was
widespread support for the project. We have found that the majority of
American power is produced through environmentally harmful
methods. Our research has shown that we produce roughly 87% of our

memo
energy using unclean methods (we included nuclear energy production
in this percentage). This leaves roughly 13% of our energy being
produced by cleaner methods, with solar power producing only .44% of
our total energy needs. Solar panels produce a more environmental
friendly method of producing energy.
Future
Work

Task 3. Research solar roadways.

We plan to continue gathering information on solar roadways so
that we can get a good idea on of how effective they will be for us.
Task 4: Prepare and conduct survey
Because of our the low response to our survey, we decided to go
online and check social media sites for peoples feelings about this
innovation. Some of the sites we will check are Facebook and
technological forums such as Tesla Motors
Task 5. Prepare the final report
This is when we will compile everything we have learned and
prepare the final report that will tell our supervisors what we should do
about acquiring the innovation and for the technicians so to be able to
use this technology

Schedule

TASK SCHEDULE
Activities and
Descriptions
Task 3:

Research Solar roadways

Task 4.

Research how people feel about this Idea

4/1 - 4/17

Prepare report

4/17- 4/20

Task 5:
Conclusion

Dates

We need to make sure we have all information we need

to make an informed decision.
We would like to check social media sources on the
internet and get an idea on what people think of this
innovation
This will be the time where we collect all the
information and bring it together.

4/10 - 4/15

In Conclusion, we have found that through our research Solar Roadways

is a very useful and solid idea that we can make use of as a company.
While we may have run into some difficulties getting to talk to people
directly about their thoughts, we were able to turn to the many social
media outlets that Solar Roadways used (Solar FREAKIN' Roadways!)

memo
("CLICK HERE to Support Solar Roadways"). Overall, the project is going
well and we expect to not run into any problems that will hinder our
schedule
