Reflective Argument

Outcome A.
The definition of Outcome A is analyze, compose, and reflect on arguments in a variety of
genres, considering the strategies, claims, evidence, and various mediums and technologies that
are appropriate to the rhetorical situation.
To me that means being able to a topic (argument) form an opinion on it (reflect) and
being able to develop that opinion through various mediums of composition. Basically it means
by being able to perform Outcome A you should be able to take a prompt, idea, question, et
cetera and after being given a form to write or compose in you should be able to express your
thoughts on the in that medium.
Personally, with my very conversation like writing style this outcome can be a trouble at
some points. When required to write formal documents my writing lacks the flow it typically
does but when given forms that are loose and more fluid I excel. During this class my progress
toward goal have had more up than downs but it is still a work in progress. I have learned to
make my works a bit more formal when the prompt requires me to do so but even then my
writing style is so engrained into my mind its hard to turn it off in a sense. Even writing this
reflective argument I can feel the casual nature of my writing slipping in.
But on the other hand this class as opened my up to far more styles of composition than
any Ive take so for. Throughout my primary education I was taught only to write in essays and
even in college my first two writing classes only focused on writing in one format. This class has
allowed me to come closer to that second portion of Outcome A by giving me the exposure to
numerous different mediums. The final MWA the documentary is so far removed from the
conventional writing prompts you typically have to do in English settings. As well even though

we werent required to create in this format showing us the vaccination comic strip allowed us to
see writing done in a different format than the conventional.

Outcome F.
The definition of Outcome F is evaluate your development as a writer over the course of
the semester and describe how composing in multiple genres and mediums using various
technologies can be applied in other contexts to advance your goals

In my opinion Outcome F is about being able to effectively and objective judge your
improvements and shortcomings as a writer and being able to explain how the work you did over
the course of the semester led to this assement. Outcome F is essentially being to reflect back on
the year and being able to see how well you did or didnt, to be able to see do how much work
you need on something or view how good you gotten at something.
This outcome is the reflective argument as a whole so while it is the second one listed
was the last one I approached. Generally this outcome is the one you learn last each semester. Its
the one you dont typically do unless you have an assignment toward it but that being said is
probably the most important of the SLOs. Being able to understand your own faults and strengths
is immensely important in terms of growing as a writer and a person. In working on the reflective
argument I was able to express the manners in which I grew as a writer and the things I felt I
didnt improve on. When doing this final assignment I gave myself a solid level to where I feel I
am as a writer which shows me exactly what I need to do in order to improve my writing.

Outcome I.
The definition for Outcome I is compose a research-based academic argument in one of
various mediums and technologies by identifying, analyzing, evaluating, and synthesizing
sources, which must include secondary sources.
I believe that mean to create (compose) an argument for class (academic as opposed to
informal) using research and being able to effectively and correctly incorporate that research into
you work. It means if youre given a prompt you should be able to do research for the topic and
create a work that not only uses the research you acquired but also cites the research properly.
Of all the SLOs this is probably the one I made the least improvements on this semester.
Not for a lack of trying, and not even because I couldnt figure it out. The reason I made so little
improvement is because there wasnt much to improve. My understanding of this SLO at the
beginning of this class was already proficient and my personal belief that this outcome has the
lowest cap. It is very much possibly to learn how to learn every possible way to research and cite
something and it may even be possible to do so in one lifetime but that simple fact alone is the
reason that it has the lowest cap of and of the other outcomes. Once you know how to do it you
can only improve on it so much while the other outcomes are endless in how you can improve on
then.
For this specific class we focused on using the MLA format of citation. It was an
important aspect of doing the very first MWA and it also was used in the second. Afterwards we
switched to touch on copyright and consent. Yet I didnt make any strides in improving my MLA
citing simply because I didnt need to. Now the class is over I can say I used easybib for all my
citing simply because while I can do it myself if need be the site is free and effective. It may
have only taken a few more moments to do it myself but it wasnt necessary and as far as

copyright and consent goes my profession is acting. I am very familiar with both consent and
copyright infringement.

Outcome B
The definition for Outcome B is describe the social nature of composing, particularly the
role of discourse communities at the local, national, and international level.
I feel this outcome means you have to be able to identify, understand, and explain the
relevance of working within groups and numerous levels does for your writing. Essential it
means you have to be able to explain why its important to work with others in different stages of
your writing.
This is personally my favorite outcome. As a kid who grew up playing team sports and
then becoming an actor where the most important task is to stay connected with everybody on
stage working in groups is something I enjoy more than most other components of English. The
need to be work with others is always something that you improve and develop. I believe this
outcome is one of the simplest to understand but its also the most complex in practice. Every
stage of writing can be affected in various ways. From teacher notes on specific portions to peer
advice. The limit to how writing with others and working on writing with others can shape your
work is endless.
In this class alone one of the first thing just like every new class you realize is that youre
working with a new set of people. Youre a part of a new discourse community and that means
people are going to have different thoughts on your writing, see things others missed, miss things
others caught, and numerous other little changes that will be specific to this new group. Next

youll realize that your writing is different in some way than it was before from work with the
prior group. And will be different when you finish working with this group. One thing Alex
pointed out to me is that I use conjunctions to start off sentence a bit more than necessary. I still
do it but it is far less obtrusive as it was at the beginning of the semester. As well in peer review
all of the people who worked with me gave me tips on how to structure my writing style a bit, to
where it was as casual as it used to be.

Outcome H
The definition for Outcome H is integrate others positions and perspectives into your
writing ethically, appropriately, and effectively in various mediums and technologies
This outcome means being able to understand people positions on a subject and being able to
utilize them in your own work in manner that doesnt misconstrue their work at all. So it means
you should be able to take somebodys work who may have a different and be able add them to
your own work and use is to strengthen your work without misinterpreting the work in any
manner.
Now if Outcome I is the outcome I made the least progress toward than Outcome H is the
outcome I made the most progress toward. The reason being this outcome is probably the one I
had the least academic experience to coming into the class. It as never at any point of my
academic career been important for me to incorporate the opposing side to my work in the
manner we did in this class. For the first MWA one of the LSA was to actually draft a paper on
the other side of your argument which was such a new idea to me it felt a bit foreign. I had never
had to find and research the opposing argument in depth and after doing so it gave me a new

perspective on a my original argument not that a change my view its just when made to focus on
this SLO I was given an a new understanding on the topic I was working with.
