Describe how you would Online Project/Collaboration Site/Publishing Opportunity
in your classroom: Students will get the opportunity to create their own
story using this website. This tool is open to students in several
different levels and they have the opportunity to also read other
creations by their peers. This can help the students to get inspiration
through the work of their peers.
What technologies would be required to implement this proposed learning activity
in a classroom? Students would need a computer or some sort of hand held
device to enable them to create the story in the classroom.
Describe how the following features are addressed in this learning experience
(note: all of them may not be addressed in the project, but most should be if you
are reaching a high LoTi Level.):
a. Collaboration with peers, near-peers, mentors outside their classroom
and often beyond their school: This is a website that can be used by
all students both in and out of the class. This makes it possible for
collaboration both between fellow classmates and outsiders.
b. Student-centered learning and knowledge creation (collecting original
data and or producing original products as a result of engaging in the
project): Originality is key when creating a project where students will
have to come up with their own individual topics and develop on what
they think. It will be too obvious if one is just repeating what the next
person is saying.
c. Higher-order thinking: Creating your own idea and story calls for
higher level thinking. There is not much thought being put in when
students are always told what to do, there is however always room for
ideas and creativity when given the chance to create their own work.
d. Students publishing their original work to others who will use/care
about their product: This as I have mentioned earlier, helps students
to collaborate, share ideas and learn from one another.

What Level of Technology Implementation best describes this learning activity and
Why? This is a level 5 because there is a two way collaboration with the
community. They are also using advanced technology to accomplish the task.
How could you implement this proposed learning experience and still comply with
your districts Internet Safety and Student Privacy policies? I would have to
explain to both the parents and the faculty that it is safe to share the students
work. Allow them that exposure to the internet should not in any way affect their
lives or their safety. I would also get permission from all parents and guardians
prior to assigning this task.
