Anatomy Intensives

Introduction

OVERVIEW

To truly master drawing the human figure the artist must delve beneath the surface, and study not only
every bump, crease, and action, but also their origins. These origins lay in the bone, the muscle, and
even the fat and ligaments. Once the artist has an understanding of the basic forms of the body it is time
to go further, to the organic forms that make them up. We must study not just the simple dimensionality, and volume, but also the mechanisms that drive the movements, and expressions. In short the
anatomy. it is for this pursuit that I have created this course. Over the following lessons we will examine the body, from the skeleton to the surface morphology. It is with this knowledge that we will not
only better understand what we see when we gaze upon the human form, but move beyond simple
observation to true mastery.

anatomy try to think of how
the muscles (and bones)
interact. Avoid thinking of
them individuals, but rather
as a part of a machine.
