Drama II Broadway Performance Project
Criteria for Assessment

As part of the Drama II curriculum, you and your cast will:


select a scene from a major Broadway show
will perform a lip-synched, choreographed production of this scene
You will be expected to use all appropriate costumes and props for this performance, as
well.
Scenery will NOT be required.
I must APPROVE of your cast (a minimum of 3 people to a maximum of 7 people) and song
selection.
In MOST situations, all members of the group will receive the same grade; you are all in this
together!
You will be assessed for this performance, using the following criteria rubric:

Group used rehearsal time wisely, compensated for absences, accomplished
daily goals
Worked cooperatively and settled disputes equitably
Researched previous performances of production for accuracy & creative
ideas
Assigned responsibilities within the group to ensure ensemble
creativity

Performance (as Assessment Grade)


A. Content/Effort
Selected suitable/appropriate material for group
Performed the entire scene/song as published
Everyone in group performed
100% effort was demonstrated in all aspects of performance
B. Accuracy
Performed the scene accurately, with each character (or character
representation) portrayed accurately
There were few or no errors (lines or cues) in the performance
All needed costumes and props were evident, and were accurate for the show
C. Quality
The performance moved beyond rehearsal level to performance
ready
The performance reflected a high level of quality
The performance was entertaining and interesting to watch.
D. Slate
Skillfully introduced & briefly summarized the musical, its theatrical history, & the
song (this should be written, rehearsed and may be done by one person, multiples,
or the entire group. ) Handed in introduction speech to teacher PRIOR to
performance day.
