My Reflection

In January 2015 I began a new course called Education Technology. Education

Technology means using technology education to enhance teachers and students teaching and
learning outcomes. On the 14th of January 2015, I began my first class. On that day we
introduced our selves to our lecturer, Mrs. Smith. On the first day of class she enlightens us of
the task of this course and we were given our assignment sheets. She also introduced us to
Schoology, an educational forum that let us communicate with our school mates and our teacher.
This course introduces me to a higher level of computer technology and it integrates education
through technology. It has contributed to my logical, communicative and specialized skills those
are needed to be the best with the new era of technological advancement which is quickly
increasing in todays society. Throughout the progression of this course I learnt about two new
concepts, they are: the ISTE and NETS. Throughout the duration of this course I have learnt to
create websites, avatars and to collaborate and share information on these websites, such as: ,
Weebly , Webquest, Wikispaces, Google drive and Podcast.
This course has changed the approach in which I go about doing my investigations, as
such: I know how to Discover, establish, scrutinize, assess, and combine useful information
from a variety of sources and media. This course has improved the way in which I teach my
lesson while still factual, yet, amusing and intriguing, thus, I have gain awareness in a number of
ways, since, I can utilize various technological tools to accomplish a number of things for both
myself and my professional use. Through the progression of this course, I am now able to
assimilate activities using tools such as Biteslide, Microsoft- PowerPoint, Word and Publisher,
toondoo, virtual Dj, Podbean, to make my lessons more effective to enhance teaching and
learning outcomes. correctly presentation and to use different types of websites such as

toondoon, pixton and voki to bring across a message or lesson. This course encourages
continuous learning as each week I was introduced to something new. Therefore, I gain the
knowledge that I will needed to develop with the digital native learners. As the course was
coming to an end, I have learnt to create my own website and to use my website for various
reasons, whether educational, business or personal. This course has a great influence on my focus
of education, since, I find it interesting and exciting to use. As a result, I would use this skill that
I have accomplished for educational purposes to promote effective teaching and learning in the
classroom.
As a teacher in training the ISTE which is the International Society for Technology in
Education has improved the way in which I learn, hence, I will use the ISTE standard in the
future to impart knowledge to my students since it has been prove to be the best way for teaching
and learning in the assimilation of technology in education. The National Educational
Technology Standards (NETS) are standards that are governed under the ISTE which are a set of
goals that help to govern the level of competence with the incorporation of technology in
education. This course has introduces me to these standards in which I am more skillful in
developing cognitive, affective, and social skills such as systems thinking, creativity, and
collaboration. In order to teach these students into a digitized educational system I will use these
standards to embolden technology in education.
