SEKOLAH MENENGAH SAINS POKOK SENA

1. INTRODUCTION
The English Week, organized by the English Department, offers a number of
interesting language-based activities for all the students of Sekolah Menengah Sains
Pokok Sena. This program aims to encourage the use of English Language among
students either in spoken or written activities. It is hoped that at the end of the
program, the students interest towards this subject will be heightened and
simultaneously their achievement will be improved.
2. OBJECTIVES:
1. To promote the use of English among students
2. To encourage participation of students in school-level competitions
3. To identify new talents for school representatives
4. To instill interest among students in activities related to the English Language
5. To expose the students to the use of English in various kinds of activities
6. To promote English Language as a medium of interaction/ education/
entertainment
7. To train the students to produce competent and well-trained individuals or teams.
3. RATIONALE
Since English language is one of the core subjects, it is very important for the
students to master it. Therefore, the English language department has planned a
program with interesting activities so that the students will not be apprehensive to
use the language in their daily basis. Apart from this, English Language Week is
also an opportunity to acknowledge the efforts of ESL teachers to teach language
skills, as well as providing support for the students to boost their confidence in using
the target language not only for the purpose of examination but also to prepare them
for the real world.
