Aim

How can I prove that two triangles are congruent?

Vocab

Reflexive Property
- when a figure or line is congruent to itself.
Angle Bisector
- a ray, line, or line segment that cuts a given angle into two
equal parts (angles).
Midpoint
- a point that divides a line segment into two equal parts
(segments).

Do Now

Identify which postulate proves the following triangles congruent:

#2)

Once you have identified the postulate which matches the picture
(choices are SSS (Side Side Side), ASA (Angle Side Angle), AAS (Angle
Angle Side), SAS (Side Angle Side), read the vocabulary words written
on the board.
Mini-Lesson

Start by having students spend 1 minute reading the given and the

following proof. Ms. Bradley and Ms. Hlawatsch will model a THINK
ALOUD on how this proof was completed. Students will use guided
notes to help and write down any key information they think is
necessary as we explain.
During this time, there are no questions, students will simply write
down what they notice about how we solve this problem.
