Making sure that every lesson is Developmentally Appropriate for students,

rest on the teachers shoulders. Teachers cant just rely on memorizing the TEKS
for that specific grade level and what they believe is DAP. The teachers must also
use their knowledge of their students including their learning abilities and
disabilities, as well as their background culturally in order to judge whats DAP.
DAP is very important to me because if a lesson is not DAP how can the
students be expected to learn? I am a strong believer that not all students learn
the same or develop the same and as teachers it is our job to cater to our students
and their needs. Its also important to me because I know what its like to be
frustrated at school and to have curriculum that is way too challenging for me or
not challenging enough. Therefore I want to eliminate my students possible
frustration and cater their learning to fit their needs.
I will implement DAP through understanding what DAP instructional
practices are appropriate for that grade level. I will also combine that
understanding with my prior knowledge of DAP, and the development of my
students. I will also make sure to be very flexible in my planning and be able to
accommodate to my students needs whether that be having to incorporate more
of a challenge, less of a challenge. Another way to implement DAP is to continually
evaluate my teaching practices and judge whether or not my teaching was
effective.
