Under the leadership of Mr ParasuRaman and Dr Prem C Jain, today, Indian Green Bullding Council (GBC) of Cll has catalysed registrations of over 2,100 green building projects. This is a clear testimony that green buildings make good business sense, GBC is forging vibrant partnerships between Government and industry in pursuing the Green ‘agencia. It is actively working with States such as Maharashtra, Pondicherry, Odisha, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Goa, Kerala in highlighting the need ang importance of green buildings, which is evoking excellent response, GBC is also working with the States of Tamil Nadu, Osisha, Andhra Pradesh in developing Carbon Footprint of the State and facilitating a low carbon growth strategy. Further, GBCis working closely with various national and’ international partners to develop & promote new concepts and business models elevantto Indian industry, Green Business Centre also engages in extensive awareness creation and capacity building activities in green buildings, energy efficiency and environmental management. As a frst step, we decided to practice Green before preaching Green. We pursued the construction of GBC building @s a model geen buling. Our concerted efforts paid off. GBC bul was awarced with the prestigious LEED Platinum rating in 2003 and twas the fist green bling in india and greenest building in the world that pointin time. The mainidea was to prove that Indian industry in general and Construction industry in particular can achieve word class standards and also demonstrate that geen buldings are technicaly feasible end economically vable What started as one green building in 2008, Indian Green Building Counc (GBC) under the leadership of Founcing Chai Mr ParasuRaman & present chair Dr rem CJainandin cooperation with US Green Bulcing Council nas catalysod ‘more than 2,100 green building projects amounting o over 1.51 Bilin sat, which has put India onthe top § countries in world green boulding map. This report is an effort to create a roadmap for Indian cement industry to achieve its target of 20% reduction in its Greenhouse gas emission intensity. This report has highlighted broad opportunities for emission reduction and achieving Low Carbon Growth for the State. The objective of this project is to help the states adopt appropriate fiscal instruments to mobilize low carbon investment and facilitate ow carbon industrial development.
