Lesson Topic: 4th lesson out of 4 Wanted Bullies- Willy the Wimp descriptive writing

Recent Prior Experience:


Ss are familiar with Willy the Wimp book and have a good understanding of using descriptive words in their sentences. Ss have also finished writing in their
sunburst graphic organizer, which will aid them towards making their wanted bully poster.

T will observe how Ss refer back to their
sunburst organizer and take antidotal notes.

Produce a wanted poster to find the bullies


In the poster:
o Write a topic sentence
o Write the details, using a variety of adjectives to describe
who, what, when and where.
o Concluding sentence/ rewards.

Ss draw a picture that relates to their wanted poster.

The Ss will put on the masks and act out the scene as we read
the book as a whole class.

After reading the book Ss think, pair and share using prompt
question on the board to help with their discussion.

T ask Ss what they did yesterday during writing, to elicit Ss

T models to the whole class what Ss need to do on the IWB.

T instructs Ss get English workbook before they start their


poster.

DEVELOPMENT

ready to create the poster.

Ss work independently at their desks. Ss are provided with


worksheet as a scaffold to help Ss place their information
coherently.

Ss refer to their sunburst organizer as


reference for the information that they have
gathered.

There are adjectives displayed on the IWB as reference.

Ss will create their poster using the worksheet. Ss will use


adjectives to describe the bullies, location of incident and a
reason for why they would want people to help find these
bullies. The majority of the class will find this task achievable.
MODIFIED:
A group (Tamatea, Hannah, Tahine, Camillo, Emelio, Paul,
Ella, Tracey) will be working with the Teachers aide who will
help the Ss fill out the worksheet. These worksheets have
been modified. On the modified poster sheet, there are
sentence started to help Ss finish the sentences. Ss on a
separate sheet have a table with examples of describing words
and questions that will help the Ss write their sentences.
EXTENDED:
These Ss will be expected to provide a descriptive and more
informative detail of the bullies and create a coherent poster
that clearly shows: An Interesting Title, topic sentence, very
detailed description of the bullies and where they were last
scene and an creative reward if they are found.

When a Ss is finished, mark their work and


give feed back.

CLOSURE
